Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2017-2018

The game is set for 2pm on Saturday. Tickets on sale at 8:30 Monday morning, as expected.

Bummed, I think this will be the first time in more than 10 years that I've missed a Minnesota/Wisconsin game in Madison...

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2017-2018

WOW is Mark Greenhalgh awesome on the radio with this insider coaching color commentary, I just love listening to him. He reminds me of Bill Howard 100%. I need to start listening to more of the games. Reed does a fine job as well.

Well, a couple seeing eye deflections and a huge backdoor save by Peters was the difference yesterday. UW could have got a couple pp's had the refs called the super obvious things, but that is the way it goes.

The season has been a rousing success considering the circumstances up to this point and it would have been nice to get a the typical cupcake first round opponent with such a stellar record, but they control their own destiny. I do like the fact they avoided a potential Clarkson matchup in the semi's, they are the team to beat.

My tickets were pre-ordered the first day they were available, now it's just a matter of if I got my seat location I wanted or did the big dollar donors push me into some random spot.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2017-2018

Well that was fast.....

Tickets on sale at 8:30, tickets listed as sold out on the UW website by 8:32.

(I did manage to get 2 tickets in that 2 minute window, just in case I am able to squeeze it into my saturday schedule.)

I got three in that same window. So, the Gophers will be represented.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2017-2018

Greenhalgh said during the BSU game that the staff was "smartly" resting Shaver this weekend so she'd be ok for the big game, which I am hoping is this weekend and not next weekend. There is no bigger game than the one right in front of them.

Still waiting for the emailed tickets to arrive to see where we are sitting. The suspense is killing me! So sad that this is the last trip into Labahn for 6 to 7 months.

I had some weird dream last night and all I remember is that Cece was in goal for UW?!

I sat next to Shaver's mom at the BSU game. She's a very enthusiastic cheerer. She told me I should be wearing red. I said, "I don't think so." I asked her how her daughter was doing. She said, "She's recovering." I ended up clapping politely for both teams when they scored. We did move to our regular seats when the Gopher's played OSU after they had been vacated by other Wisconsin fans.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2017-2018

To upgrade an old joke: There are two seasons. Hockey & Highway Construction.

I have season tickets to UW volleyball as well as UW women hockey, and I get a 3 game or 5 game package to men's hockey, and go to pretty much all the home UW football games. Those 'seasons' all run into one another, so I sort the tickets together by date and then put them into the top drawer of my desk, so I can just grab the top ticket and have it be the 'right one'.

My ticket drawer only has one ticket left in it. :-(

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2017-2018

Have you considered softball?

The season is pretty much over by the time the weather gets good enough; I go to a game or two every year, but they rain out as often as they actually play (Though this year. UW is hosting the Big Ten Tournament, so I'll go see some of that.)

Baseball used to be later but the NCAA moved it to winter many years back. We have been at softball and baseball games where a parka is required. And then they wonder why the teams from South & West dominate.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2017-2018

I saw where the Gopher baseball team is playing a string of games at U.S. Bank Stadium which of course is covered. I still haven't been inside for any event, but I do intend to go to one of the Gophers' games which would of course be a much more economical choice than buying a Vikings ticket.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2017-2018

Notice that Gopher fans are trying to steer the topic away from hockey. What does that tell you? :D

I just thought you guys were being nice, trying to soften the blow when 'my' season comes to an end on Saturday.

HEY! I am not the one that brought up softball!

I predict a 1 goal game Saturday after a torrid back and forth battle that will be a classic game between two proud teams. I never predict victory because the hockey gods are not kind to braggarts.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2017-2018

Not when Dick Siebert was still coaching at the U though. But it has been awhile. I still had the AuH2O in '64 bumper sticker on our '62 Chevy then.

Or when Bud Middaugh was coaching at Michigan in the 1980s; the infield of Hal Morris, some guy I can't remember, Chris Sabo, and Barry Larkin was pretty good. What really changed was the year round baseball at the youth level, which meant that southern and west coast schools had much richer local recruiting pipelines than did their cold weather counterparts.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2017-2018

Has anyone gotten the email with the tickets attached yet? When I bought them, I got a confirmation email that said they'd be delivered within a half hour. When they hadn't shown up by that afternoon, I called the ticket office, and was told that they'd be sent out today. Still no sign of them.
