Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

http://board.uscho.com/showthread.php?113154-Wisconsin-Hockey-Recruiting-Vol-XXXIV-Go-pick-me-out-a-winner-Strand/page17

Ironically it came from someone that was responding to your direct request on another thread on this board.

Ha, I just was in the men's recruiting thread and saw the response there, cool.

Mauermann is 2nd on the team with 17 pts, 2 are ahead of her with 18 pts. Looks like she was injured January 2015 and is obviously fully healed. As for December 2014 she was committed to UW per Bucky's 5th Quarter. Maybe she's still committed? Her facebook hasn't really been touched since Sept. 2013. Interesting mystery.

I really dislike the "what happened last year" thing, who cares, it's a new year, new players, it's irrelevant (this is a comment directed at all useless stats spewed out in the sporting world).

UM outshot the dawgs 48/19 and 29/17. It will be interesting to see how UW stacks up to how the rodents performed.

Their PP is 16%, PK is 74% (UW is PP 25% PK 96%).

I'm surprised UW is struggling along with a 4% penalty kill rate...I would have thought it might be more around 96% ;)

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

About as an effective barometer as "last year."

Really? I'm looking at what happened a few weeks ago with no changes in players and coaches to the 3 teams in trying to get a feel for the rodent/badger matchup until they play each other. This makes more sense than looking at what happened last year between UW and UM to decide whose better this year, but that's just me. I personally still feel UM has more talent on the roster, but is more talent going to equate to them being a better team? It doesn't hurt.

I understand your objective for comparing results and various statistics vs. common opponents. My theory is those things may not mean much, or depict what to expect H2H. Of course...it's all one has to go on until then.

Given current rankings / schedules. I think Wisconsin is the favorite in Madison...in Dec. Maybe the new Minnesota Duluth, or Dartmouth can affect that. I wouldn't bet on it.

WHile I agree with Timothy A's assessment that MN has more talent I think you are correct about the Dec meeting. I told my Badger friend before the season started they should book tickets Durham next March. I have my own reason for believing this is the year the skunks cash in.

I believe that this is the year of the Badger. They are simply too strong. Predict that they will take 3 of 4 when they play UM. That could change if Nurse and Clark are not healthy. If they are, they will win it all.

Heck, The Gophers might not score any goals against Wisconsin since they reside in the WCHA. Only teams from Hockey East score goals against the BADgers.

No Rolfes in the line-up, she was in the top D pair. Drake is in her spot and Gardner and Williams are the 3rd pair. Hope she's not injured, but it's suspicious. My Maddy will be devastated her favorite player is not playing today.

That's a bit bold even by my standards. I was thinking more of the skunks wining the rubber match in spring. But it is early yet and there is a long way to go. On paper the Gophers are better but the games are played on ice not paper, thats what makes it interesting. The December games will carry a lot of weight for Wisconsin given the past few years and that might help them to break the current string.

Saw that also. Not a great sign considering they had last week off. One potential weakness of this team is a small roster size. So far they have been able to weather the storm with players missing due to nagging injuries and international competition.

Love the optimism. Until I see them beat Minnesota once, it's hard for me to start thinking about winning the season series and beyond. On paper, I'm still not 100% sure they are better than last year. Last year's team was rolling late in the season until that Frozen Four semi against the Gophers.

I think on paper they are not better than last year, but on the ice right now they sure seem to be. I sure thought last year they'd beat those stinkin rodents once with that line-up. I don't want them to get too much into that mindset that they have to beat them and get too tight. I know last year there was a lot of media pressure in their faces about the streak. Just play your game and see what happens. Just like the streak ARD is in, ignore it and just play your game and whatever happens, happens. The past is ancient. Ignore it.
