Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

With all the real-time drama playing out with the men's program right now, I really like the fact that in women's hockey you get to see the players for all four years (barring injuries).

I was thinking the same exact thing. Women's hockey is how I envision all college athletics to be, sign up for 4 years, be on the team for 4 years, transfer and pay the penalty if there is one, or just flat out quit if you want. The only problem UW has is losing players for a few games or whole seasons every 4 years, but you get them back til the 4 years is complete.

Not only did she get invited to camp, but she made the team due to an injury. Seeing as the coaches for the 4 nations are going with an older post college group, this is very impressive. In a way I'm a little bummed Pankowski didn't get invited as she was the last cut on the Olympic team. This puts Pankowski and Norby on the same plane talent-wise at the same age, pretty exciting.

Not really. There are only two college players on the roster. Norby is a nice HS player, but at this stage of her career, she's not better than Pankowski, Carpenter, and about a dozen others who aren't on the roster.

So to be clear, she's not at Pankowski's level when Pankowski was a sr. in HS? That's what I was getting at. Thanks for the insight.

Not in my opinion. I'd put her level closer to someone like Laura Bowman, now a junior at Penn State, who played for the same HS as Norby. Excellent player, just not someone who is likely to be a national rookie of the year. But Norby's game is more like that of Amy Peterson, also a Penn State junior from Minnetonka.

Can you translate to a current UW player or maybe a player in the wcha that I can relate to?

Not sure how much she'll play today but Norby is listed on the 4th line with Darkangelo and Hickel. She is the youngest on the roster by a mile. Has to be a great experience for her, again regardles of how much she actually plays. Curious why Team USA didn't dig further into NCAA rosters.

Nicole Haase (Tristar Scoop) did a nice article on how the US roster was constructed, I think I saw that on Victory Press via Twitter. Obviously I am and probably you too are surprised Pankowski was not invited. ARD was at some Canadian events this last summer, she could have been on the radar as well. I'm glad they both are here. I am SO conflicted thinking about Nurse and Clark trying to score on Rigsby and Vetter. It kinda sucks the fun out of hating your biggest rival.

My personal order of preference for Four Nations:

1) Nurse and Clark stay healthy
2) Team USA win gold (or whatever is given for winning it all)
3) Nurse and Clark do well enough for future Team Canada consideration

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

I'm not sure why, but I was shocked to see Clark on the first line for the Canadians. Norby was on the US 3rd line, so it wasn't like the coaches were trying to hide her. This Mark Johnson guy kinda has an eye for talent.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

You are AWESOME! This is just what I've always wanted to see. I wonder what the plan is to fill out the F's next year. One has to think all the top end gals have signed up already for next year. In Mark Johnson I trust.

In all fairness, all I did was cut and paste someone else's sweet looking spreadsheet. Curious about the status of Alexis Mauermann. I think she was a commit at one point, but doesn't seem like it anymore. Otherwise, not sure if there are any upper tier recruits still uncommitted.

I recall reading that Mauermann had injured her knee last year. For accuracy, you could cross reference to collegecommitments.com. Where did you pick the spreadsheet up from?
