WISC DC.....any special signs in store for Ms. Miller this weekend? Maybe some whitty chants? It's our last chance to torment her you know.

If I was 21 again and a student, I could see myself holding a big William Shatner Fathead recommending a law firm.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

That's what he told me too, it's all their (the Music Dept's) fault.......anyway you and I have made it known we want the band, I think other posters still need to contact Mr. King and keep the pressure on him, as well as contact the Music Dept. I think if Mr. King's boss got involved, maybe there would be a better outcome.

Be prepared for some re-runs (I've got school things), and I have approximately zero thoughts about Shannon Miller (I also didn't follow what's going on with her and UMD). I'll bring a marker for the back of some posters, though. :)

You can read up on the Miller thing tomorrow all day and bring something wildly whitty and funny Saturday @ 7:30. I liked your Duggan sign last home series.

I thought of "Got Job?", a play off the old "Got Milk?" campaign, but that might just be too tacky, even for her.

It was actually a Hilary Knight sign. I came up with that in class after trying to find some kind of Monty Python and the Holy Grail joke. I had completely forgotten that Duggan became a Clarkson coach until right before the game, but it conveniently referred to two Badgers!

When they announce the visiting team and get to the part "and head coach Shannon Miller" simply respond"NOT FOR LONG!"
Go Badgers.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Very interesting game. UW dominated territorially for the first 2 periods, but UMD had better chances. The 3rd period was pretty darn even. UW had the better of the play in OT. That was my first shootout to see live. It was better than I expected. It was fun doing the sieve chant while UW was shooting. I stole that from the students last weekend when I watched the rodent/UW shootout.

I forgot to mention during the Bemiji series we got yelled at for hitting the glass behind the bench. That was LAME. But we had been cautious after that not wanting to get tossed, but tonight we ramped it back up. In fact, a lady wearing a Josephs jersey watching from the concourse told us to hit it more.

There was that 1 play in the 3rd period where their sieve unded up mostly in the net with the puck under her, I was thinking that should have been reviewed. It could very well have been a goal.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

One other amusing incident from the game. UMD had al their helmets lined up on the bench after the pregame warm-ups. Bucky came over and asked the UMD trainer for a fist-bump, and she acted like he was not even there, she totally ignored him. We were of course goading Bucky on. Anyway, she turns her back and he does this head swivel like "is anyone watching me" and takes his stick on knocks a helmet off the bench and skates away. LOL moment! That trainer was very nice to us, she tossed a game puck to one of my sons that got lost on the bench during the game.

It was also amusing watching the older UMD assistant coach diagram on the grease board what to do on the shootout. Really? She seemed to be telling them to cut right as they came in to shoot. Would it have been bad of me to stand on my seat, get above the glass and listen?

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

It was indeed an interesting game. Could have easily been a 3-3 game as both teams just missed on multiple great scoring opportunities. Both Black and Desbiens were in top form. It was the best I've seen Duluth look in Madison in a few years. I didn't take note of the individual names, but there were several nice one-on-one plays against a Badger defenseman to create a quality scoring chance.

I have a love/hate relationship with shootouts. Seems like a very gimmicky way to award a full extra point, but it was the most exciting part of the game, especially after no goals after 65 minutes of play. Both goals by Pankowski and McKibbon (and even the one scored by UMD) were on great moves. Definitely felt like a win afterwards as the Badgers looked fairly fatigued later on in the game.

Little disappointed that the crowd didn't top 2,000. Not sure if it's because the Capitols were also playing out at the Coliseum, but I thought it would be a near sellout. Hopefully there will be a larger crowd tonight for Senior Night.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Pure speculation, but maybe a Saturday night game was more accommodating to the players' families than a Sunday noon game in a couple of weeks.
Or maybe the parents who are coming from a long distance would rather see a UMD series than a St. Cloud State series.

Apart from expecting to see a good game because the 'Dogs are seemingly back to being a decent team, might the 'Dogs' games be drawing larger crowds now and for the rest of this month than they otherwise would (if they do) for morbid sort of reasons?

Part me thought the same thing, but I'm not really sure parents/family care about who the opponent is for a Senior weekend. I still think it's because this weekend is a Friday/Saturday night series vs. Friday afternoon/Sunday afternoon series but I could be completely wrong.

The players would be more likely to consider the opponent than the parents. If it is one of those goofy two-games-in-three-days series, then it makes sense that they wouldn't pick that weekend.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

I'm wondering how much the Admirals pay the UW Band for their trip and performance. That makes it a little different than the UW band showing up at a UW event.

(By the way, when their trip to Milwaukee doesn't conflict with Badgers home events, I do recommend going. I went with some friends last year and had a blast.)

FWIW, they do this every year and have been for a while. It's on the calendar for months and I'd bet the Ads pay them an appearance fee.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Speaking of senior night, why is it tonight?

Because Fri/Sat is much more convenient traveling for parents and this particular group is 3 Canadians (and the Ammermans from NJ), so they aren't short/easy trips. A couple of these parents have only been to a handful of other games over the course of the players' careers because of distance. The Fri/Sat means they can be here and see the players more. The Friday/Sunday is real inconvenient for that.

One argument for having 'senior day' in two weeks is that parents coming from a long distance could come for senior day, hang around for the week, and then attend first round of WCHA playoffs (even though they'd see St Cloud for all four (and probably not) or five games).
