Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

I do believe Sunday's game is on the Wisconsin Channel, which is internet arm of WI public TV.

It's also available over the air on a digital subchannel, which anyone watching anything over the air will get. Weirdly, some subscription-based TV providers don't carry it.

Not that this matters for someone in New York.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Thanks for the update. A lot of future Badgers on that U18 roster. Is she coming in this fall or next?

Good! We need more firepower. It's going to be an awesome day of hockey Saturday, we're doing a gals/guys double header with supper on St. Street.

I'll be doing the same, but with dinner at the Big Ten so we have parking and the shuttle bus :)

Even a loss wouldn't probably wouldn't spoil our supper, I hold Clarkson in high regard. It would only be spoiled if UW plays badly, and I doubt that will be the case.

My plan for parking for the double header is to park in the lot by the RR tracks for the gal's game and leave it there until we leave after the men's game, with the risk that we'll not have a parking pass on the dash for the men's game. I don't think they can do anything, there's a Panera bread in that complex now, so I could just park by that like we're there. Any thoughts/experiences with this lot and how it's managed?

Series preview video. Well done by the UW. Hopefully, they'll keep doing them for the remainder of the season.

With a true round-robin conference games taking up most of the schedule, it's nice seeing these different teams now and then.

Should be good crowd. Last week's games against Bemidji drew well and Saturday was a sellout.

Now about that band....

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

I talked to Meghan Duggan this week. Here's the more Wisconsin-centric of the two pieces I'll have with her:

I will be bringing a small 9" x 22" sign that says "WI Heart Duggan" and will be putting that on the glass behind the Clarkson bench, (where we sit for the games). We're pretty jacked to have the Olympic captain and Badger legend a mere few feet from us today and tomorrow. Let's go RED!

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

It was very nice to see Duggan get acknowledged at the start of the game and see the great response to her. A very nice crowd today, but they were a little flat in the 3rd period.

I think UW's depth advantage will be a plus tomorrow, Clarkson only has 10 F and 4 are freshmen. I thought UW controlled more of the game than I thought they would.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

I thought it was a very entertaining game, though the goal scoring struggles are still a concern. However, the Badgers are still getting quality scoring chances, so I have to keep the faith that the goals will come.

Clarkson is definitely a legitimate team and it was a little nerve-wracking in OT killing the penalty to end the game.

Pretty much a full house and again disappointed that neither the band was there nor did I see Bucky. Granted, I rolled in a couple of minutes after face-off so maybe he made an earlier pre-game appearance, but he was gone after that at the least. When the crowd is probably at least 25% kids, it's probably a good idea to have Bucky on-hand.

Looking forward to tomorrow's game. Hopefully, they can light the lamp a few times.

This is just a rumor but I think the Gopher ate Bucky :D

Bucky was on ice pregame, so that was good to see. The lack of a band sucks, we went to the men's game last night (kinda sorry I spent that much money on that game) and I had forgotten how much it impacts the atmosphere.

I am getting more and more concerned about our lack of scoring. The sue put 4 up on Bemiji. They need to figure out a way to crash the net more. The Clarkson gal was a good rebound producer yesterday.

I thought that might be the case with Bucky, but he couldn't stay through at least 2 periods? I know there was a men's game later, but that really shouldn't matter.

I'm going to ask someone at Guest Services about who the appropriate contact is for the this band issue. I went to the women's basketball game last Sunday, which started at the same time as the Packer game. Probably about 2,500 at Kohl and they had a 25+ member band there. Not to throw the women's basketball team under the bus, but why are they going to a mediocre team's game and not a women's hockey game which is sold out and the team is a legitimate national title contender? I'm not suggesting that the band stop going to women's basketball games, just want to them to go to the occasional hockey game. Doesn't even have to be every game, maybe just one game a series.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

That certainly helped wash out last night's distasteful result at the men's game.

I could not be around to see this afternoons game. After last night it did not surprise me. Wisconsin's "quality depth" did in my knights. It was a good lesson for our gals. Congrats to the Badgers on a well deserved win and best of luck going forward.

After going and seeing our men's team lose both games in the "North Star Cup" this weekend, watching our women's team sweep St. Cloud on the DVR did the same for me. So I can completely relate to what you're feeling, or tasting in this instance. ;)

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

I. . . why are they going to a mediocre team's game and not a women's hockey game which is sold out . . .

Could it be that bringing the band in would probably reduce the number of butts in seats? Its a shame though, have been there for games a couple last year and again this & it is the best crowd atmosphere at any women's game. They are a great team & deserve more respect.
