Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Hope your men's BB team strikes a blow tonight at so much of what's wrong in college athletics. Best of luck!

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Isn't it common practice on the men's side to buy tickets the second they go on sale, regardless of knowing whether or not your team will be there? That's why you'll go and see tons of jerseys from around the country?

While I get that advanced planning is something you don't normally have to do with women's sports, I'm definitely not complaining - it's a good problem to have. Change is good. Growing the game is good.

I get frustrated in situations like this because we're all so protective of our niche sport/fandom and complain about people not watching/going to the games, but then get annoyed when things change and aren't the way we are used to or want them to be.

Teams did get allocations of tickets, but as was pointed out by another poster, it was 25% of a small stadium allocated among four teams - meaning each team got just a handful of tickets. Wisconsin's were used by distributing them to the family members of the players.

Now it's official. It's out at least a month earlier than normal. Though I never fully understood why it was released so late in the past especially once they moved to LaBahn.

No times yet of course, I know Jason King will do all in his power to ensure no dumb Friday afternoon games. I suspect once the men's is released we'll have a good idea of when the gals will play, of course deferring to the almighty BB team.

The last series of the year will be an epic battle, but by that time UW will have wrapped the title up and locked in home ice for the first round of the ncaa's. :)

Neat to see former Badger teammates Johnson and Romanchuk helping to expose CA to D1 Women's Hockey with a game between Providence and Wisconsin in San Jose. Mark is like his Dad continually looking to build and better the game.

Badgers have taken the show on the road to non-college hockey communities before. At a minimum, they've gone to Colorado, Florida and California in the past for non-conference games.

Will it just be one game or multiple games? Seems like a long way to go for one game. But I hope to be there for it/them.

Certainly not a tough road game. Where I work we call those trips boondoggles.... When you have lots of $$$ you can do dat.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

There has been rumblings of it on other threads and maybe most insiders have known this for awhile, but it does look like Mikaela Gardner is now a Badger commit, formerly Ohio State. Frankly, the Badgers needed another defenseman and was surprised that no D-man had been part of this incoming recruiting class over the last year or so.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Agreed! I think Gardner will be a great addition to the defense for the Badgers. That gives the team 7 defensemen instead of 6. Although the team lost some scoring upfront with the departure of senior forwards Turnbull, Ammerman, Josephs, and Sylvester I really liked the progress made during the season of last years Freshman and Sophomore classes..Over the last month or so of the season and especially during the playoffs, I felt like the Clark, Pankowski, Wellhausen line may have been playing the best of the top 3 lines. If they continue to improve and if coach Johnson decides to keep them together as a unit, they could be a force. It will be interesting to see what other players step up and in to the vacated forward positions!

Excellent, reads as a top notch pick-up (I guess there's no gentleman's agreement on the women's side?). So she joins Shaver and Cogan in the upcoming class. The next year's class seems to be Cece, Norby, Steffen, Roque and Mauermann from what I have gleaned off the interweb.

It it not easy being the 3rd leading scorer on the first line, they never get the credit they deserve because everyone thinks they could do as well with those linemates.

Does anybody have information on how this years group did this past season? Next years recruits? Do they look strong?
