Wisconsin Badgers 2012-2013 - The LaBahn Era Begins

I disagree that it would be pointless. With Rigsby and Burke not making the Olympic team, the 2013-14 team just got their best goalie and defenseman back in the fold. The one big question mark (by a mile) is scoring. The argument could be made that getting Pankowski back for the second semester would make them a legitimate title contender. Plus (if she takes the redshirt), she'll be back in the same spot for the '18 Olympics. Could she even take two redshirt years, assuming she'd be good enough in four years?

It isn't a redshirt year if she isn't in school for the Olympics, or if she enters school in January and doesn't play.

So are you saying that if she is cut from the Olympic team in January that she HAS to play at UW in January or lose a year of eligibility? That REALLY doesn't seem fair if it is the case.

I think he's making the more technical point that it doesn't count as the single redshirt a player is allowed. It doesn't count against her eligibility and she can still take a redshirt later if she needs to.

Aaahhhhh....got it. Thanks.
