Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2010-2011, The next generation.

We will know A LOT about this team after the next 8 games.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2010-2011, The next generation.

heh, that's very John Madden of you;)

anything under .500 and I'll be disappointed. Bring on the rats, that will be the test of the year thusfar

We just need to score more goals than the other team and we will be fine :)

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2010-2011, The next generation.

Because last night's game is still fresh on our minds it can't go without mentioning the shorty that Sean Dolan had. What an individual play he made to skate through the defender and bring the puck around and past the goaltender. Anyone have this on video that they can post?

Great individual play? He high sticked the defenseman in the neck. No clue what the hell the refs were looking at it clearly should have been a penalty on Dolan. Instead we get a goal. Hell I'll take it.

I'll take .500 against these 5 teams. UND, UMD, and Michigan are all top 7 type teams this season and maybe better. State is very respectable and the rats are the rats and that's on the road. I'll take .500 through this stretch. Anything better and I'll do cartwheels.

I couldn't believe that was allowed. He made a quick deke to the left to push the puck through Cousens legs but he ended up hitting Cousens' facemask, pushed it up, and grinded him in the face. Cousens went down as Dolan scored. As they were celebrating, Cousens was hunched over spitting up blood onto the ice as he made his way to the bench. Couldn't believe that didn't get called.

Todd Anderson, is there more to say?

In Anderson's defence, it happened very quickly. I didn't even notice it until the replay. The Tech guy should have exaggerated it to make it more obvious to the otherwise blind and clueless WCHA refs.

And then Rammer levels the Tech player as he's skating over to celebrate w/Dolan. I don't like how UND cheap these guys are acting this year (5 minute majors, yapping all the time, hitting after the whistle). What will they do next, attack Goldy and then have to write a public apology? Play with class, you're not in North Dakota, the home of the BRAVE.

What will happen when UW has to play in ND next? Imagine the classlessness!

Wow. That took way less time than I thought it would to snag a suzie fan in the net. Anyway, when those 2 hook up it's gonna be ugly. It could be "Water Bottle Game, Part 2". I don't expect either team to change thier stripes over a 2 week period. At least UW is capable of playing with class, with UND it's genetically impossible.

Whatever, dork. ;)
Your level of trolling can only bring sympathy from opposing fanbases. :) :p

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2010-2011, The next generation.

For those of us who "live and die" for our favorite college hockey team, there comes a time when that is secondary. And that time came to Pioneer fans this weekend.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. — University of Denver center Jesse Martin sustained three neck fractures in Saturday night's hockey game at North Dakota and was transferred to a Minneapolis hospital this morning where doctors are deciding if emergency surgery is required to relieve swelling of the spinal cord, the player's father said.

A new thread has been started
"Pass on your best wishes to Jesse Martin here"

Definetly a sickening story. Somehow Im not surprised that it was a NoDak player who caused that injury. Hopefully the league hands out a harsh suspension.

At the risk of being unpopular, I don't think it was that unclean of a hit. Martin had his head down, isn't that one of the first things you learn in any sport is to keep your head up? There might have been some elbow, the video I saw it was not clear to me, honestly it looked like a clean hit at first glance. It was a brutal hit, given the circumstances, Malone already got a 5 minute major and game DQ, not sure why he would deserve much more punishment.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2010-2011, The next generation.

Brian,

I was really hoping to snatch a sue comment about the "home of the brave", and certainly didn't think a sue would be trolling the UW thread like that, especially one as esteemed as yourself. :D:)

The dork comment doesn't bother me at all. My wife calls me a dork all the time (you can't see why, can you? I can't). Hmmmm, you're not my wife, who could be a possible closet sue fan? Come to think of it, she was hoping for triplet girls and wanted to name them Suzie, Suzette and Sue. Please get off the web and don't overcook the chicken, dear. I'm going to be sick......:o

A) The Tech player fell like a deer getting shot so I thought it was pretty clear personally.
B) Rammage was just excited and trying to celebrate with Dolan and wasn't paying attention and ran into Olson who had his head down and wasn't paying attention. Didn't think it was intentional at all.

No worries, my wife calls me a dork all the time too. :)
Which is why I feel fine extending that compliment onto others that I love, such as yourself. ;)

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2010-2011, The next generation.

I agree, and I may be setting the bar high at .500 considering the competition and the youth on UW...but...I'm very optimistic about this season. I like how some of these young guys are playing (well, some are 20 y.o. frosh, still), especially Mersch and Zengerle.

edit - oops, guess I didn't hit the reply w/quote button to Chuck

When our 70 Techies road tripped to Duluth last year they started a "DORKS!" chant and it was awesome. We love being called dorks. It is about as offensive as something on sesame street.

IMO it was a hit at full speed with a bit of elbow throw in for good measure. Martin should have kept his head up, yes but you could also say that such a brutal hit was unneccesary and was done with intent to injur.

This looks like a hit that happens all of the time and draws cheers from the fans of the hitter. Until the hittee doesn't get up.

Hard for me to see intent to injure here. Intent to hurt? Most definitely, but 80% of checks have intent to hurt involved in them.

Very unfortunate and I hope the Pioneer player recovers.
