Agreed. I researched blowers and Ariens is top shelf. I just purchased the Ariens 30 SHO Platinum.

Agreed. Bought my house in January 2009, and I live on a corner. Had an Ariens delivered that day. I only use the electric start once or twice a year, but it's worth it for those days. The snowblower itself was worth it just for the time we got 2 feet of heavy snow in 24 hours.

I'm a shoveler. Just don't have that much area to clear, and I don't feel like hauling a blower up and down the steps for the front sidewalk. I'm also far too sedentary with my job, and I don't want to pay someone to lift heavy things. Yard work and snow shoveling are my "workouts."

I never minded mowing or shoveling. Did I ever look forward to it? Naw. It wasn't a PITA to me, though.

I have quite a bit of shoveling but took that approach for years, since I have a sedentary job as well. Seemed the environmentally responsible thing to do too, under the circumstances. Gave in to age, though I still rake and keep the blower in the garage for lighter snows.

From my house to the Apple Valley transit station is normally a 13-minute drive. Today it took 40 minutes. And one stalled Dodge. The bus, once it arrived, actually took about a normal amount of time from the station to Minneapolis. Having use of the highway shoulders helped tremendously.

Tires on the new vehicle suck in this. Rats. Don't have the funds to get some winter shoes on it at the moment. Forced to be that guy everyone screams at. Glad I have a manual. Starting in second got me to work today.

What kind of car and tires, if you don't mind me asking? I'm at ~42K on my factory 40K tires right this moment. They still have a couple thousand left on them, which is nice, but I'm planning for my new tires shortly.

Holy crap. Here’s a picture of the pipe that failed. I’ve never seen a failure like that for a “young” pipe. That looks like sh-it metal.

Well, to go 3 blocks to turn out of my basically dedicated road to cross another main road: 20 minutes.
The next 5 miles to work, once I got past that intersection? 10 minutes.
Funniest thing: seeing SUVs, sedans, and pickup trucks spinning wheels at intersections and such. Me? Not a single slip-up. I drove fine, in a friggin' muscle car.
Most anger-inducing thing? Seeing folks block the intersection because THEY HAD TO MAKE THIS LIGHT PERIOD! and effing it up for the cross-traffic.

Be interesting to be the metallurgist figuring out why that cracked like that. Wonder how many gallons leaked out of that before they shut it off
