Winter Weather 2017-18 where EVERYONE argues.

My garage door apparently didn’t go all the way up and my forester clipped the bottom brace, which ripped off. So now the bottom plastic thing is off, I think a few screws were loosened and now one of the rollers is off the track and goddammit I hate this weather

Women drivers....

:p

I know, I know.
In my defense it went nearly all the way up so you couldn’t tell - I normally recognize by sound and it sounded correct. Visually I’d already popped into the car.

Mookie’s mom has backed into 3 cars in her driveway because “she didn’t expect them to be there”

So you are in the clear... :)

(Mookie also hisself has driven with no side view mirrors (BOTH sides), well just because...)

Re: Winter Weather 2017-18 where EVERYONE argues.

When my garage door came off the rails due to frost heave and a damaged door, I just called Great Garage Door Co. They fixed it for cheap. Said it wasn’t worth replacing the rails. Saved me some cash.

Oh, and when I said the garage door probably needed to be replaced in a year or two, the guy said the door was fine for the most part. Didn’t need to be replaced for many more years. He said it was my opener hat would need to be replaced. He even suggested that I would be able to do it myself instead of having to get it done professionally. Didn’t want to sell me something I didn’t need. I like that.

Its Armageddon in the south. School closings and late starts everywhere.

This death cyclone could cripple the city if it moves farther west than expected.

My daughter doesn't think her apartment in Nola is insulated. I guess they just figure it's cheaper to have the tenant air condition the shyt out of it in the summer.

It's a building in the deep south. It's made of corrugated tin and crepe paper.

That can't be a pic of the rural south--there's no old washer or engine block in the yard.

I believe the source photo was marked Louisiana. It came up on google of "'corrugated tin' house Louisiana" with a B&W filter to screen out all the modern shed ads.

Why lube the spring? What king of opener is it. I'd be looking at that or the tracks.

I started with the tracks, lubed them with graphite. Still not working. Starting with the cheapest fixes, then moving to the more expensive stuff. At least my garage door is now the quietest it's been since 2005, when I bought the place.

They closed the Florida State University campus today because of the cold, and the threat of up to an inch of snow. It was in the 40's there today. I assume none of the students have any shoes other than flip flops.

Re: Winter Weather 2017-18 where EVERYONE argues.

We’re visiting in Mpls today. It’s nice to be in the south for a little taste of summer after getting buried in snow for the past month:

Re: Winter Weather 2017-18 where EVERYONE argues.

Just replaced a solenoid on my generator and made sure it starts now. It’s supposed to get windy here on the coast (I’m on Mount Desert Island, just off the coast of Maine). We’re projected to get 12-16” of snow and gusts of 60+ mph

Wow. That brings some pretty dramatic but beautiful images to mind.

Re: Winter Weather 2017-18 where EVERYONE argues.

This startribune headline confirms what Brent said :

The deep-freeze free-fall that began Christmas Day made the final week of 2017 in the Twin Cities the coldest in 132 years with an average temperature of 3 below zero.
