Re: Who will win the "National" USA Invitational 19U tournament

I am sure this has been discussed many times already sorry :( but how is NSA allowed to participate in Nationals if NAHA is not? Is that simply because of different state rules about qualifications for nationals?

Correct...

Re: Who will win the "National" USA Invitational 19U tournament

Wait 2 days. It's a formality.

The Pacific Distric is being determined this weekend in San Jose

The Atlantic district team will be determined this weekend as well. The smart money's on the Rockets this year.
EDIT 3/23: It's official. The Rockets are in.

All-

Sorry I was not clear...my comment was a me being a smart*****

I was thinking that this topic was aimed at the "Prep" school national invitational that was being played.

That will be an official USA Hockey Championshp Tourny in 2012...this year was just a invitational that was set up by NAHA I think?

If this thread is about the Tier I Nationals, then the title is misleading...that is not a a invitatioanl, but a qualifing tournameant. Correct?

Re: Who will win the "National" USA Invitational 19U tournament

The term "Invitational" is tongue in cheek as a reminder of USA Hockey's policy for allowing individual State organizations to have the sovereign power to establish unique rules for qualification vs. other states.

You know, like the unique sovereign power that Obama and Pelosi just took away from the individual states regarding healthcare?

Per NoGo " If this thread is about the Tier I Nationals, then the title is misleading...that is not a a invitatioanl, but a qualifing tournameant. Correct?"

The thread title is a bit of sarcasm deriving from the fact that NAHA is not allowed to compeat is said tournament.

Re: Who will win the "National" USA Invitational 19U tournament

U19 National Tourney Question ? Is This years Tourney the
same Weekend as the U18 World held in Chicago April 2,3,4 ?

Re: Who will win the "National" USA Invitational 19U tournament

i'm calling for a rematch of last years national championship between ssm and chicago mission. both teams have a plethora of offense, led by nationl team players and top d1 commits. mission has a size advantage over the always good ssm. should be a very good tournment to say the least...:)

Re: Who will win the "National" USA Invitational 19U tournament

In the first day of play, LC beat SSM 3-2, Mission beat NJ Rockets 5-4, Colorado beat host Green Bay 10-1 (not that this means much), Haven't heard other scores yet. Seems the Rockets may be the surprise team. They're very fast ... matched Mission's speed easily.

This will take you to it all:

except of course the impression of the play of those in attendance which many of us are also interested in. :)

Thanks for the update. The Rockets have some great talent - good speed and good hands. I've watched them destroy the NJ Colonials a few times this year, but the competition on the National stage is so much stronger than in NJ. I'll be curious to see how they fare against LA and Colorodo.

The USA Hockey site doesn't list the score for the Ohio Flames/Assabet game. Anyone know the result?

Re: Who will win the "National" USA Invitational 19U tournament

Game was tied...Ohio Flames scored in regulation late in the game..goal was in and out, and not seen...called no goal.
Overtime, no score...Assabet went on to win in a shootout.
(not sure of the final score)

Can anyone vouch for Tara Leighton's whereabouts?

Re: Who will win the "National" USA Invitational 19U tournament

I believe she is being awarded the Order of Canada today in Ottawa...;)

joining such others of dubious character in that notorious club including Alan Eagleson, Conrad Black......

Actually Eagleson joins 3 others who have subsequently been stripped of the Order of Canada including Steve Fonyo, David Ahenakew & T Sher Singh.

Lord Black of Crossharbour (Conrad Black), Guy "The Flower" Lafluer and Garth Drabinsky are all awaiting their court appeals on criminal charges prior to being stripped of their O.C.'s

Re: Who will win the "National" USA Invitational 19U tournament

Wow 90% of these games have been won by a goal...must be very competative.

Is anybody there that can eloborate?

Re: Who will win the "National" USA Invitational 19U tournament

The National Conference has some tough teams. Ohio, NSA and CT are playing the favorites tough. SSM, LC, Assabett & NSA are all beating each other up. NSA is a bit of a surprise with 2 wins, currently leading that conference. The American conference has the stronger teams on one side of the bracket. Colorado has their offense in gear and is getting tons of shots and goals. Mission had a big win today, scoring 10. LA had a 4 goal win. Tomorrow will determine who ends up in first. Both Conferences are tight at the top and wins along with goal differential will be important, as the top teams are close. Quarterfinals will be tough for whoever moves on.
