Who will be the 7th member of the Big Ten Hockey Conference?

UND Brings nothing? Best program in the NCAA's right now plus they fill their arena for every game. They would be the best draw in the current B1G. Nope, not a UND fan, actually a DU fan. I don't want them to leave the NCHC

How good UND's program is or how many people it would put in the seats makes no difference. The B10 is only interested in AAU schools and unless UND were to become one (highly unlikely) they would never be considered. The only exception would be if it were a different UND :)

The competitive hockey angle was specifically mentioned by 5mn_Major as being on the wrong track. Somehow, the concept of hockeys' role being a non-factor in an institution being considered for B1G membership, alluded you.

How dumb do you have to be to think that college hockey credentials would mean a single thing when it comes to entrance to the Big Ten?

For that matter, how long would it take us to make a list of ten things that matter more to the conference than hockey prowess? I'll start it:

1. AAU accreditation (boy, Nebraska got lucky on that one)

Yeah, nobody else would want to play in your lousy, spread out conference if UND left. :p

2) UND is a hockey first school. They'd suck worse than the Goofers in any other sport.

Just saying that if B1G wants another team, they must let an outsider in. It's for 1 sport only. Don't be so pompous.

I'm speaking of one sport. Of course UND cannot join the Big 10 for all sports. UND and DU have been in the same hockey league with Mich, MSU,OSU,MINN,WISKY.

Look at the 5 Big East lax schools adding DU. It's to improve the league in one sport.

Ummm... to be fair, UND football has won their league within the past decade, so I wouldn't say that they would be worse than the Goofers in football.

Well not actually nothing. But nothing that matters to the B1G.

The only time the B1G will invite a school in a single sport is when its an absolute game changer. See JHopkins...in terms of bringing in a school that has won 44 national championships while making two televisable conference sports for B1G. And as UND is a fine school...but its not JHopkins. See Wiki: The National Science Foundation (NSF) has ranked Johns Hopkins #1 among U.S. academic institutions in total science, medical and engineering research and development spending for 31 consecutive years. As of 2011, thirty-seven Nobel Prize winners have been affiliated with Johns Hopkins, and the university's research is the second most cited in the world after Harvard.

Frankly even if possible, U Toronto would probably be borderline even though it could bring a following across all of Canada...while being in the top 30 universities in the world.

Well, actually it eluded him.(Since we are,a t times, discussing academics in this thread.)
