Who should South Korea fear Most

Re: Who should South Korea fear Most

I wonder who's leaking all these government communication. maybe we need wikibusinessleaks on america to see what business executives are really saying about the taxcuts to stimulate the economy, bank bailouts, etc...

And then China intercepting 15% of the world internet traffic recently including pentagon and other government agency. by a simple IP signal making it seem they had the fastest connection. But NSA does the same thing with all voice/data traffic that come thru USA network.

Yeah, A unified Korea much like what happened with Germany would be the most ideal solution. It would be nice to do that soon as there are not a whole lot of people on other side of the DMZ that would have family on both sides that they would actually remember. Having those families coming together would be really good for helping the process, as its going to be pretty tough to interrate North Korea back into the world. At least the East Germans had some idea of what was going on on the other side of the Iron Curtain, a lot due in thanks to Radio Free Europe.

And although the Russians were pretty nasty cold war opponents...at least strategy could assume they were largely rational. No Korea...not so, which is what makes them tough to work with.

Supposedly it was some 22-year old Private First Class who was disgruntled about DADT. He was also the one who leaked the video of an army chopper shooting 2 iraqi journalists in the spring (which really didn't cause a fuss cause it was understandable collateral damage).

Not really sure why wikileaks waited so long to release these given that they would have gotten them about the same time as that video. Also not really sure how a PFC gains access to hundreds of thousands of state dept. cables, but that's the official story so far.

Exactly.

Even if the Great Leader wakes up feeling extra chirpy one morning, I don't think his lieutenants are going to nuke the Aleutians and commit suicide with him.

Oh I don't know, you could make a decent argument that Kim is pretty darn rational.

I could see Gaddafi's approach as being one a tinpot dictator would be interested in. Being enough of a good guy to where other countries will allow you to buy there stuff and go on weekend binges to their countries...but being enough of a bad boy to where you retain dictatorial powers and other countries don't want to mess with you. But pushing the peninsula to the brink of war when opposing sides have nukes...doesn't strike me as the cush lifestyle a dictator would want to pursue. The only thing you can say is that he's addicted to power.

You're very possibly correct, but the fact that we have to ask such questions about North Korea speaks loudly in and of itself.

Just wait until we get an Evangelical Dispensationalist in the White House.

Bump.

Pretty sure it's us. But not directly. It's because we're going to do something stupid and North Korea is going to does something stupider.

Not really. More provoke discussion and revive an old thread. I love a good zombie thread.

South Park 21.2 was about this and made the point beautifully.
