White house beer session

Re: White house beer session

Not sure I should ever listen to your beer critiques again. :)

Did I say it was my favorite? Nope. It's an okay cheap-arse beer. Better than Miller, although it isn't saying much at all.

I prefer a higher-quality beer for sure: Goose Island, KBC, Guinness, Boddington's, Paulaner, Spaten, etc.

Everyone has their guilty pleasures in beer. Mine happens to be Budweiser. :p

Re: White house beer session

The only thing more comical than everyone wanting to drink with W was the fact that he was a recovering alcoholic. He wasn't drinking, period.

He drank non-alcoholic beer.

I think non-alcoholic beer has more alcohol than Bud Light or Coors Light:D ...although the Milwaukee river beer sounds good...probably lots of prescription drugs, chemicals and other mind altering stuff in rivers surrounding large cities. The marketing would be tricky...

They don't call Milwaukee's Best "The Beast" for nothing. ;)

Re: White house beer session

And then Vladimir Putin would have crushed him with the Baltika No. 9 in the plastic 51 oz. bottle.

Truth. We still need to find someone that can conquer that bad boy and end up with only a buzz at most.

So far:

1 praying to the toilet
2 who were more drunk than they thought they'd be.

I'd go with BPH's friend Larry. The man was the master of Edward 40Hands.

He also almost burned down Houghton, but that's a story for another time.

I've heard that story. :D
I think I might try and bring out a couple 51ozers to CO.......imagine the carnage.

Maybe that will become my signature calling card on trips: "Hoven's headed this way....that means the Baltika!

I'd nominate some of the GPL guys. Or DormRat in his prime.

Had another bottle of Baltika 9 recently... god it tastes like rubbing alcohol. Gotta have a few drinks beforehand to prepare the palate.

Oh, and for Obama's shindig, I'm surprised no one suggested "Colt 45 and <strike>two</strike> three zig-zags." :o

1. Possibly.
2. It's not THAT bad. I kinda like it, actually. Not my first choice, nor my second. But FAR from the likes of "those American swill beers" like Bud/Miller/Coors.
3. And how did you miss this?:

Re: White house beer session

That's so politically incorrect, it's hilarious. :D

* PC. It brings out/accentuates the differences in everyone, instead of the similarities, which is the opposite effect that it was meant to bring out in the first place.

I was referring to your panning of Sam Adams. :)

Re: White house beer session

Sam Adams sucks. That is fact. :p

You are correct in the sense that SA is an overrated beer. However, I suspect you object mostly because, similar to Guinness and their "Brilliant!" campaign, Boston Beer Co. has used advertising to turn SA into a brand for trend geeks and hipsters to latch onto. That is also correct and yes, it is annoying.

I think SA is alright and I occasionally drink it at home for variety. At any decent bar though, there are usually better options.

I have never liked it, even before it turned into the trendy beer it is today.
