White house beer session

Re: White house beer session

Sam Jackson, on the other hand...

But seriously, I can't get over this: Bud freakin' Light? Are you a college freshman or a fat Nascar fan or a Southerner? Why don't you just serve them Tang instead?

I don't mind Budweiser at all, and I would rather have goat pee than Bud Light.

Re: White house beer session

Dumbest quote ever. The choice of beer doesn't make this stupid, this situation makes this stupid. Obama is trying waaaaay too hard to cover his *** for diving into a situation he should have just kept out of, and is only digging even deeper. And honsetly, his PR department is either full of morons, or else feels that they need to cater to America like everyone is a complete moron, which works for a good part of the populace, but not everyone.

Honestly, I don't think Barack Obama knows what beer even is, but his PR people were probably saying something along the lines of "You know what would make you seem cooler in the eyes of Americans? They like to drink lots of beer, so maybe if the President of the United States drinks a beer with his college professor friend who has a temper tantrum at a police officer over racism allegations with that police officer, they'll think you're normal. We better make it a beer they like, though, or else they'll think we're not like them."

I wish they'd put as much thought into the economy or health care as it seems they do trying to boost his image by 'just having a beer' with random people. Stephen Colbert had a good quote last night along the lines of 'the "teaching moment" is that if you arrest a black man under questionable circumstances, you get invited to the White House to have a beer with the President.'

People take stuff way too seriously. It's one event that has nothing to do with anything else. OMG he took one afternoon out of his 4 years to do something pointless. OH THE HORROR!!!!!

Re: White house beer session

Liking Bud and saying Sam Adams sucks is rather perplexing.

I don't know who needs to apologize more, the Rube for his beer choice, or Gates/Crowley/Obama/Rosy the Nosy Neighbor for eight days of this ****.

If LBJ were alive today, I'm sure he would be shocked to learn that all he needed to do for racial harmony was host a kegger at the White House.

Is there anything this President CAN'T do?

(swoon)

Poll from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinal website.

I like the results, from a Milwaukee perspective, if only for the three at the bottom of the barrell:

- Bud Light (watered down rice beer from St. Louis)
- Old Style (a beer that's really associated with Cubs fans)
- Milwaukee's Best Light (because, ironically enough, it truly is the worst beer ever made in Milwaukee. It may very well just be river water.)

(Heard the Sam Adams guy on WEEI last night talking about "domestic" beer - the largest truly American-owned beer company (Sam Adams) makes up only .8% of the US beer market. I found that interesting.)

Boy, he was making the rounds. I saw him on MSNBC yesterday at noon, too.

I'm sure he or GWB would have served a Shiner Bock or a Lone Star... :D

Re: White house beer session

The only thing more comical than everyone wanting to drink with W was the fact that he was a recovering alcoholic. He wasn't drinking, period.

Who is this everyone you speak of? You can have a beer with a dolt in any watering hole

Re: White house beer session

A Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA would have been a good choice as it's delicious, American made (local even), and drinking one would have had the same result as drinking tequilla. :D

Nice to hear a shoutout for 120 min IPA. Pricey, yet tasty, but can lead to serious issues (stupidity, blackouts, waking up in unknown locations:) ) if consumed in moderate amounts (each 12oz bottle has over 2 shots worth of alcohol)
