When I win the lottery....

Re: When I win the lottery....

oh for pete's sake. I didn't really want to win yesterday, and now I have ANOTHER chance for MORE? all those tickets, how could NO ONE win?

Re: When I win the lottery....

Odds of winning are 1:292 million.... So why doesn't Bill Gates pull a C.M. Burns and buy one each of the 292 million number combos? You should still be some $300 million in the black, no?

Saturday to Wed. gives you an extra day than Wed. to Saturday, but you still have only 90 hours, give or take. You'd have to buy ~3.5 million combinations per hour, every hour, with no breaks. Good luck with that.

crazy, whoever wins is going to go thru some serious changes. I can't see it working out to well for most people. Paranoia come to mind, everyone wants a piece.

No doubt. Truly I'd rather win a smaller amount that would take away some of life's money stress without creating lots of new stress.

Re: When I win the lottery....

I was so anxiety ridden about winning last night and so relieved not to have won. I don't know why I put myself at such risk. No more tickets and feeling free.

Exactly. It's gotten to the point now where I either don't buy a ticket or hope there are multiple winners.

All I keep thinking is about that Florida guy who was murdered ... and he won a heck of a lot less.

Re: When I win the lottery....

Do they have to replace all the highway billboards to accommodate the extra digit?

Re: When I win the lottery....

Well, because I'm such a nice guy, I'll help out and take the remaining $998m off of your hands.

I would donate that to UM but I understand the sentiment of doubting my comment.

I get it the skepticism of what I said, but the record of winners ****ing it all away is legendary. I'd like to think I'd be smater than that, but the amount of pressure from everywhere when you win that much money is tremendous. I've never lived beyond my means and I know several people I could trust were I to be in this situation. I'm just saying I think people tremendously underestimate the weight of this and in MN you cannot disappear as a winner.

No I know what you mean and I agree. There's really only so much you need to not have to worry about things down the line - buying a house, medical emergencies, college for kids - and then the rest I'd be worried that I'd do something stupid with it. Or that some nut out there would come after me. Set aside, say, 20m and I can live off of that. The rest, put it in a trust or something like that, and let it accumulate its interest and I'll give the rest to charities or other organization; but let people know that I can withdraw it myself so they don't come after me.

To say nothing of how you would kinda lose purpose if you no longer had to work to survive. I mean, it's one thing to not have to worry about emergencies, but it's another to have to wake up and do nothing. That would be cool the first week, the next week I'd be bored. I suppose having a billion and being bored is the ultimate first-world problem though.

It'd make more sense if they did 13 100m drawing rather than a single 100m drawing. That way 13 people win, and all still have more than enough money than they would ever need.

Re: When I win the lottery....

I said at GPL I'd almost rather win $2m than $1b.

I'd prefer a much smaller sum, too - enough to retire (very) early, so I can do whatever I want and not be a burden to my family when I get old. Maybe $10 million. I would seriously consider giving the ticket away to a stranger if I won a billion. Not because I'm afraid I'd **** it away (I know I wouldn't, and I wouldn't get bored, either), but because there would be so many safety concerns, both for me and my family. Some whackjob is likely to come after you or someone you love if you win that much - people get crazy around money, and there are a LOT of desperate people. Not sure I could get rid of the bulk of cash quick enough.

Move to some out of the way place where other 1%ers hide. You could also buy an island.
