Re: What's on your Playlist? USCHO Music Thread

Listening to Phish do Crosseyed & Painless (Talking Heads) > No Quarter (Zeppelin) from Chicago this past summer.

Oh my, oh my... :)

Re: What's on your Playlist? USCHO Music Thread

JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound's cover of Wilco's I Am Trying to Break Your Heart is very, very awesome.

I would link to the youtube video so you can hear it, but sadly, I do not have access to youtube at work. Google it.

I saw them do this song live opening for Dismemberment Plan @ the Metro. very good cover. actually their whole set was great.

Re: What's on your Playlist? USCHO Music Thread

Been working on getting my live shows onto the iPod.

Listening to Grateful Dead 4/1/90 this morning. Smoking show.

Love, love, LOVE my 160 gig iPod. Once the shows are all on it, it will be full and have virtually all of my music on it. As a lifelong music fanatic, the ability to have 4000 cds worth of music on my arm when I bike or in the car with me or in my office as I (don't) work still boggles my mind a bit.

Miles Davis today? How about Limp Bizkit? Maybe some Gram Parsons? Rod Stewart? The Dead? James Brown? Duran Duran? Got it all, right here.

I mean, I still remember recording songs off the radio on cassettes and when the Walkman first came out.

Yeah, yeah. I know... :)

Re: What's on your Playlist? USCHO Music Thread

Also have my kid's music in our iTunes and just sync my player so all of his stuff is on there too. Kinda cool coz his stuff isn't too bad and I've been introduced to some newer music through him.

So on the way to practice last night he says he wants to hear "Closer to the Edge" by 30 Seconds To Mars and I intentionally mis-hear him to say "Close to the Edge" by Yes.

We were heading to the UW campus for practice and I informed him that college chicks would flock to the car (mini-van) to see what the cool music was. He said the only people that listen to this crap are old dudes with bad mustaches (I have no mustache, so not sure where that came from).

He then asked how frickin' long this song was - 17 minutes, I believe. I told him that if I didn't play Yes for him in the car that I was afraid that he'd never be exposed to it. After 5 minutes and some whining, we moved on to a little Siberian Khatru and by the time we got to campus, we were both singing along to Leave It as the van bumped. AhhhhAhhh.....LEAVE IT!

Anyone else torture their kids intentionally with music? :D

Mom and I laid ABBA on him about 6 months ago. I can't stand ABBA, but it was fun to make the boy suffer through it!

Edit: Still love me some Squire and Howe from time to time. Relayer playing now.

Edit #2: Forgot why I rarely listen to Relayer. Ugh, Moraz was not a good fit and possibly some of Jon's worst vocal performances. A little Trooper maybe and then time to move on from Yes.

Super Eurobeat 221 comes out February 1st. It better be as amazing as SEB 218, but I fear it won't be.

I have yet to convince my kids of the fact that Neil Young is a musical genius. The attempts will continue.

I'm not sure I'd post this. This can be considered child abuse in some states.

I watched Everything is Illuminated recently, and it has me on a Gogol Bordello kick.

Re: What's on your Playlist? USCHO Music Thread

Never knew that Cake did a cover of "War Pigs" by Sabbath... Pretty badass if you ask me...

These are in order? Horrible list and ZZ Top shouldn't be on the list at all.

Re: What's on your Playlist? USCHO Music Thread

One Zeppelin song? I don't care if Stairway has been overplayed, it's on that list ahead of Rock ' Roll.

Also, Dude Looks Like a Lady but no Dream On?

With or Without You but no Pride or Streets?

And for GnR they omit Welcome to the Jungle?

Sultans of Swing's gotta be there over the other Dire Straits song.

Jackson Browne's gotta be Runnin' on Empty.

I like Crash Test Dummies, but they can't be on this list. C'mon man!

Hot For Teacher is Van Halen's best song? I'd take just about every song from I & II over that.

Where's "The Day The Music Died?"

Where's Bohemian Rhapsody?

For the Eagles, who I never liked, it's gotta be Hotel California.

What about Rod Stewart - Maggie May

No R.E.M., Rush, Styx but some of these others are on there? Pointer Sisters? Really?

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE!?!

Okay, count to ten... 1, 2, 3, 4...

No, sorry, I should have said that; They are in no particular order other than grouped by artist.

I kinda figured that out. Hope it's obvious that I'm freaking out at the list and not you.

Re: What's on your Playlist? USCHO Music Thread

I've been listening to a lot of angry and/or fast/loud guitar music lately. A good way of venting. RATM, Disturbed, Rancid (and Lars Fredriksen side project Lars & The Bastards), Sex Pistols, Bad Religion, etc.
Good music AND good alcohol recommendations on the drinking thread!
Current workout playlist includes Pantera, Prodigy, Bad Religion, Slipknot, Metallica, Helmet and some old Mission of Burma. I'm too old for this stuff, but it is great lifting music.
