Re: What's on your Playlist? USCHO Music Thread

One Zeppelin song? I don't care if Stairway has been overplayed, it's on that list ahead of Rock ' Roll.

Also, Dude Looks Like a Lady but no Dream On?

With or Without You but no Pride or Streets?

And for GnR they omit Welcome to the Jungle?

Sultans of Swing's gotta be there over the other Dire Straits song.

Jackson Browne's gotta be Runnin' on Empty.

I like Crash Test Dummies, but they can't be on this list. C'mon man!

Hot For Teacher is Van Halen's best song? I'd take just about every song from I & II over that.

Where's "The Day The Music Died?"

Where's Bohemian Rhapsody?

For the Eagles, who I never liked, it's gotta be Hotel California.

What about Rod Stewart - Maggie May

No R.E.M., Rush, Styx but some of these others are on there? Pointer Sisters? Really?

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE!?!

Okay, count to ten... 1, 2, 3, 4...
While I might not agree with some of your choices, I'd agree with you that the original list has some problems with the songs they did choose from a few of the bands/artists included.

Night Flight

Wasn't there a Friday night video show back in the days called Night Flight?

I'm the youngest person in my area of the building by FAR.

You should see the looks I get when I turn on my dubstep channel on Pandora.

Enjoying Grooveshark at school. Current playlist includes: Rush, Dropkick Murphys, DeathCab, Freezepop, Cee-Lo, Goldfrapp, and My Darkest Days.

VAST: Turquoise and Crimson. Excellent double album, though I do believe Turquoise is slightly better.

Massive Attack: Mezzanine. Helps me fall asleep at night, albeit giving me weird dreams in the process.

Brantley Gilbert has officially replaced Eric Church as my go-to favorite CD. Halfway to Heaven is incredible, and now its starting to get some radio play, which is awesome.

The Cult - Ceremony, Love & Electric set to shuffle.

Didn't appreciate these guys in real time as much as I do now.

Recently purchased the live Dark Side of the Moon that was part of the DSOTM Immersion Box Set. This is the album played live in 1974.

So very good. Amazing how tight they were live, even back then.

Hope they release Animals live at some point.

Coz I know you all care...

Now listening to the Pulse version of the same. No Roger (sorry snobs, er purists) but still very good. Guy Pratt was great filling in.

Studio version next?

How did something so good go so wrong?

Re: What's on your Playlist? USCHO Music Thread

I have a confession to make: I've been listening to some Grateful Dead lately, and I actually kind of like it. :o

Dude, it'll change your life and that's no lie. :)

For any who like the Dead, Phish, Widespread, Cheese, etc, check out Mr. Blotto.

Great Chicago band that you can find on archive.org. Lots and lots of soundboard recordings.

Wonderful song writing and do a lot of cool covers also.

Re: What's on your Playlist? USCHO Music Thread

I just bought the Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 years of Amnesty International album set. It's a four-disc set with a variety of artists from numerous genres sing, as the set's title suggests, Bob Dylan songs; Dylan has a track on it, too.

So far I can say that there are some really good takes on Dylan's work and some real clunkers, too. The most surprising is Don't Think Twice, It's All Right by Kesha. I don't know much about that girl/woman other than she sings the top 40 type of music that can only be called so using its loosest of meanings, but she does a really good/surprising version of that song, but I could also see a lot of people viewing it as being over wrought.
