Re: What's on your Playlist? USCHO Music Thread

In the car, on the way to and from work, the last couple of days:

Dylan: Blonde on Blonde and Blood on the Tracks

At home the last couple of days:

David Bowie: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders form Mars

Pink Floyd - Shine On Live

Dvd rip (actually laser disc most likely since this hasn't come out on dvd) of the audio from their late 80s concert film.

I still have the original Pulse box (and have since bought the DVD). I replaced the battery about 5 years ago and the light still blinks. :D

Me too! I took the battery out though to avoid leakage.

The dvd is so good. Does such a great job of capturing the light show. It's utterly amazing on the big TV.

I'd have never guessed in 94 when I saw that tour that I'd never see that type of Floyd show again. :(

I've seen Roger and David since then and Roger's Wall was amazing, but it's the Wall and while it may be my favorite Floyd album, when you see it live, you always know what's coming, which takes away a lot of the fun.

The Floyd show that I saw in 94 remains the best light show and production that I've ever seen.

I saw the Floyd for the original Wall tour, Roger for Pros and Cons, In the Flesh and The Wall and Gilmour for On an Island. But tops without question was the reunion for Live8 in London. Even though it was brief and even though the other 3 three seemed to mock Roger ("this is what you've been missing you wanker") it was well worth the expense and my one lone "I have to have" life experience.

I've heard the Australian Pink Floyd put on an amazing how (and are endorsed by David) but I can't see myself paying that kind of money for a cover band as good as they may be.

Wow. Very cool to have seen the whole lineup together, especially the original production of the Wall. I was 10 when that was rolling around. My older sister got me into it and that was the first Floyd I listened to.

Live 8 would have been cool too, but you could see how uncomfortable they all were together with letting Roger back in even a smidge. Roger certainly seemed to be enjoying it though. Too bad the wounds run as deep as they do.

I saw the Aussie Floyd group when they toured their production of the Wall. Maybe 07 or 08 and they were unbelievably good and their production of that show was outstanding. Did the Wall in it's entirety and then a 6 or 7 song encore of other stuff. Close your eyes and it was as spot on as it could be - no lie. The light show was really good too and I hear they made it even better now.

I'm not a tribute band guy, but I will definitely see them again when(if) they come back to Madison. Highly recommended, fwiw.

Saw The Pink Floyd Experience (tribute from New Zealand) and they were nowhere near as good. Waste of time (and money).

I always get a kick out of this, and they've updated the song list from the live performance that hit the web originally.

All kidding aside, about time.

I used to love them back in the late 70s early 80s and still listen to them a few times a year.

Gonna cue some up right now!

EDIT: Chose 5/28/79 from Offenbach, Germany. Shredding it on Anthem!

Just read an article about it and YES is still on the outside.

I've never put much stock in the Rock H.O.F., and that is another example (along with Rush) of why.

No Maiden either?

Had a bootleg VHS of the original Wall Tour. Amazing. Wish I could have seen that live. I don't have the Pulse DVD, but do have the Pulse CD. I should replace the batteries in it. I've replaced them twice since I bought it when it came out, last ones burned out about a year ago.

Get the Pulse dvd. It would look great on your big screen.

So much eye candy in terms of the light show.

Re: What's on your Playlist? USCHO Music Thread

Okay, got me into a Floyd mood...

9/13/94 from Torino, Italy

Cool setlist in that it's very different from PULSE. No DSOTM in its entirety in the second set.

I'm glad Rush got in.

Maiden absolutely should be in! up the irons! :)

Re: What's on your Playlist? USCHO Music Thread

After I finish listening to Valleyheart, I'm going to play Antics and Our Love to Admire. :)

If you haven't already, check out The Chameleons - Script of the Bridge (great album)

Obviously a MAJOR influence on Interpol.

EDIT:

Seriously, Turn on the Bright Lights (Interpol) fans, check out Script of the Bridge (if you haven't).

Luckily, Interpol does it so well that I don't even mind that they stole their (initial) style from this album. :)

Can't say I hate seeing Vedder and Waters doing Comfortably Numb, but they should have found away to get Gilmour and Mason for this. :(

Speaking of bridges, was listening to Robin Trower Bridge of Sighs today.
