Re: What the Fark???

Sorry, but that's not a WT* post, and I have little sympathy. It's a private school, if he and his parents don't like it, they should've sent him to public school.

So if your school made you wear a girl's robe to your graduation you wouldn't say "UUTF?" Interesting.

We had unisex robes at my Catholic high school. Everyone wore the school colors.

It sounds like color is the only difference here, it's not like they're making him wear an evening gown and carry a purse. Regardless, the point still stands. It's a private school, and they set the dress code. If the boys wear black robes and the girls wear white robes, then that's that.

Look, I don't like it either, I think it's an obviously dogmatic move by a conservative Catholic administration, but I'm not going to pity the kid nor his parents too much, they're paying for the privilege of sending him there. If they wanted him taught in a more understanding environment, they should have sent him to public school.

I don't see that it makes much difference what the kid wears. Seems like the administration is trying to make a point needlessly, to humiliate the kid in the process. On the other hand, I've had it up to here with people who make it their life's work to force others to "accept" (meaning, "approve") of their choices.

The TG issue is going to be a mess while people figure out what the heck to do.

What do you do with sports teams when Robert who is now Roberta wants to play on the girls team? H/She has not yet undergone assignment surgery or hormone therapy b/c h/she is too young. Washington State, I think, is the first state to formally address the issue.

I support gay marriage but in school sorry you play and stay based upon your genitalia.

I want to be identified as Zod, Supreme Ruler of the Universe. It doesn't make me so. :p

Except there are laws on the books of several states the prohibit discrimination against LGBT folks.

Zod, or any other delusions of grandeur are still not covered.

Discrimination! I want my delusions of grandeur covered the same way her/his delusions of gender are!!

Re: What the Fark???

Its a pretty simple solution. Did she have a vag or a dick? One gets a certain color robe, the other a different color robe. Its not rocket surgery.

Re: What the Fark???

You know what would be an easy way to correct this....legally changing his name.

At 17 he is a minor. I don't know the law in Pennsylvania, but I was unable to change my name until my 18th birthday. Before that it would have required the approval of both parents and since my father had tried on numerous occasions to kill my mother, I wasn't going to seek his permission. My mother came up to Orono on my 18th birthday and we drove to the court in Auburn so I could change my name.

Well, I have my doubts that he is in the same situation as you. If his parents didn't want it, too bad.

It is, unfortunately, now. It seems it is no longer the equipment, but how you identity yourself.

Does it give me the heebie geebies? Yep!! But if Bob wants to be called Roberta or Roberta, Bob, it is not a big deal in the big picture.

From now on, call me Loretta.
