Hadn't seen it. It's a great ad. I mean, f-ck them for using the issue to sell products, but even so, it's a great ad.

Who would object to it? Bullies. Harassers. Abusers. Rapists. And their enablers. Keep that in mind when you hear who is screeching.

We are leaving the apes behind, finally. Only took 20 million years.

People who see an attack specifically on toxic masculinity as an attack on all masculinity are, unbeknownst to them, perfectly illustrating the problem.

Precisely.

But they still own the airwaves. Think of all the tropes repeated hundreds of times a night in front of every young boy and girl. Violence is the final solution to a problem. Brute strength is the basis for all power. A "real man" can only be "pushed so far." The ideal hero may solve his problems without resorting to violence, but he still could be violent and succeed. Superheros are rich (so they can resort to economic violence) and of course physically strong and well equipped (technological violence).

The apes still own the imagery of our society. Marketing knows the best way to sell needless products is to bypass intellect and go right to emotions, and the strongest emotions are ape emotions.

We still have a ways to go, as the apes break into a sweat knowing their days are over, and grip their guns all the more tightly. We've done well to create Ape Reservations in the south and on the prairie to keep them out of our way and let them indulge their violent fantasies by culling each other. With heart disease and opioids and suicide it's only a matter of time until their numbers are so small marketing doesn't even pay them any mind.

This is a perfect explanation of the Perpetually Angry Right Winger affect, as demonstrated here by posters who will rename nameless.

I haven't seen the ad but read about it elsewhere. What are 2 boys wrestling supposed to represent?

The "wrestling" is supposed to be one kid kicking the sh-t out of the other. Or as primatologists call it, establishing dominance.

Well, I mean, you have the Heineken ad from a couple years ago about racism/LGBT/etc issues to sell a product. Doesn't mean it's not a good message (btw the Heineken ad is outstanding).

I support the message. Everybody in marketing is getting a bullet anyway.

Meh. I just don’t like the cynical use of it to sell razors.

I'm dumb and out of touch with society.... How exactly does a Gender Reveal work? How does the mother do the blood test, but not get the results? Do they take the blood test (or whatever it is to determine genetics) and then have the results sent to their BFF who then bakes said lasagna? I get that the mom can do this without telling the dad... I just don't understand giving medical info to a 3rd party in the case where neither mom or dad know

P.S. Get off my lawn! :p

"Gender Reveal" should accurately be renamed "genital reveal." Once the sex of the child is known, then idiot parents plan a party around it, sometimes with pink or blue cake, or in this case, $140 lasagna.

I'm not able to have kids of my own any more, but if I could, my partner and I wouldn't dream of such a stunt.

Re: What The Fark 5: I Can't Believe This Happened!

I think the doc puts the sex in sealed envelope and that is what the parents take to a baker or whatever.
One of the dumbest things ever invented
