Re: What the Fark 3: The Strange and Unusual

Hey, they're vandalizing Catholic churches in the DC area. At some point, enough is enough.

"They"?

I'm a bit more worried about the wackjobs torching Planned Parenthood clinics. We should hire the black panthers to guard them, and perform "Formation" for contributions to the clinics. That'd go over well in the "personal safety" community. :p:rolleyes:

Wouldn't the Hells Angels be a more fitting thumb in the eye of pro-lifers? :p

C'mon Mississippi Muslims, you know what to do! It's "Kalashnikovs and Korans" night at your local Mosque - they should love that!

(no, seriously - don't do that, unless you want to get dead)

Re: What the Fark 3: The Strange and Unusual

For people not from our area, what makes this even funnier is that Loudon County is a leafy white suburb for the horsey set. Imagine the most entitled little precious princes and princesses on the planet. It's the kind of place where people still have lawn jockeys, unironically. People there don't go to Whole Foods because, you know, "too ghetto."

And now little Tristan and Aiden are riding around the paddocks with C4 under the hood. FF, Too it is.

This story definitely qualifies. "Spring break," "football players," and "woman in danger" in the same sentence, and doesn't also involve "rape."

(Presumably since "fraternity" is not also included.)

I really wonder what people are thinking when they do stuff like this. Bear with me.

The vast majority of gun owners I've met are hyper-safety-conscious because well duh. Add in that to even know enough about tannerite (it's existence for one thing, but also where to buy it and how) to get hold of it, you must have at least some understanding of what it does. Add in that again the vast majority of 'splosion freaks I've met are ex-mil and know an insane amount of stuff about explosives and firearms... and I'm left with not understanding how somebody like this exists.

I get that 16-year old boys watch Jackas-s and then go out and paralyze themselves doing dumb stunts because, well, 16-year old boys are morons and you really only need access to a bike, a hill, and some wood and you too can construct a life-threatening "jump." But these are grown adults. The portion of their brain that controls an understanding of future consequences has fully developed. What in the actual f-ck?

Because they watch Jacka_s? Or, as Forrest Gump said, "Stupid is as stupid does."

I guess I've just never met anybody that stupid.

There is one other explanation: drugs / booze. (a.k.a. But Tony couldn't fly; Tony died.)

That's because Darwin removed them from the gene pool before you made their acquaintance.

That's what I thought of too. Moose make black bears look like cute puppies. Bear: 250 lbs. Moose: 1,000+
Grizzlies, though, would intimidate me. I haven't seen any of those in the U.P. berry patches.

I've had three run-ins with bears on backpacking trips, including one who tore a hole in my tent as I was sleeping inside. Another one followed me from 100 feet away as I hiked up a hill to a campsite... and then back down as I said f this and went back to my car. Also met a juvenile moose on a trail in the backcountry of Grand Tetons... I had bear spray as a last defense but I nearly lost it when it started to trot my direction before veering off into the woods.
