Re: What the Fark 3: The Strange and Unusual

They have people who are actually good at training horses. :p

Gene Hackman in “Crimson Tide”

Capt. Ramsey: Some of the things they do, uh, defy belief. Their training program is simplicity itself. You just stick a cattle prod up their *** and you can get a horse to deal cards.
[Chuckles]
Capt. Ramsey: Simple matter of voltage.

While I agree with the article, this is the same John McAfee that fled to Belize, got caught up in a murder mystery, tangled with drug lords, all while blogging it, correct?

The source is sketchy.

Which led to a fantastic series of articles in Wired.

Re: What the Fark 3: The Strange and Unusual

I volunteer at a cat rescue shelter. This morning, my volunteer supervisor and I showed up and found a box outside the door. It was taped shut, and there were weird noises coming from inside the box. We bring the box inside, peel the tape off, and lo and behold, there was a CHICKEN inside the box. So my boss contacted her fellow board members, and we scrambled to find another place for this chicken. Thankfully, Foghorn Leghorn got a new home.

How did anyone mistake us for a chicken shelter?

The cat rescue for our county is Animal Control, so it's not totally bizarre.

Our clinic used to have a sign that read "Do not give to or accept animals from suspicious people hanging around outside the doors." It raised so many questions. What if our thresholds of suspiciousness differ? What should I be accepting from or giving to these people? Is it OK if I bring them inside first?

Adding local color, there were at least four spelling errors in the 14 words, which is about par for the vicinity.

Urban chicken farming is actually becoming a huge thing right now among the hipster types.

That said, should have taken what's behind Curtain #1 :D

A man from Foley, MN, gets customized license plates that read "FMUSLMS".

The Department of Public Safety said the license plates were issued in June 2015 and the custom license plate application was processed in Foley and reviewed by the state’s Driver and Vehicle Services.

“This personalized license plate should never have been issued; it is offensive and distasteful,” DPS said in a statement. “We are in the process of revoking and taking possession of the plates today. The Department of Public Safety apologizes for this error. The Driver and Vehicle Services Division is reviewing its process for approving personalized license plates today and will immediately provide additional review and oversight of applications.”

Gov. Mark Dayton expressed his displeasure that the plates were allowed.

“I am appalled that this license plate was issued by the State of Minnesota,” he said in a statement. “It is offensive, and the person who requested it should be ashamed. That prejudice has no place in Minnesota.

“I have instructed the Commissioner of Public Safety to retrieve this plate as soon as possible and re-review agency procedures to ensure it does not occur again,” he added.
