I think it was brood II that was active when we lived in MD. It was the **** buzzing that bothered me, not the bugs themselves.

It was the jerk neighbor kids putting the freaky shells in my bike's water bottle that freaked me out. 20+ years later, I'm still traumatized.

We get mayfly swarms, which are also very annoying.

True story: was at a campground (not out in the sticks, it was one of those mobile trailer parks w/camping also). Walking on a path covered in wood chips. Except they weren't wood chips.

Back when I was working on the dock on Mackinac Island, one of the things I had to do in the morning was to wipe down the benches to get rid of the mayflies before the dew dried off. They would stain the white benches if I didn't. Thankfully, they weren't that bad there in the harbor, but they were still a pain in the butt to deal with them.

I took my daughter to a job as a summer camp counselor. I went in an outhouse to take a crap and when I reached for the toilet paper, it was covered with mayflies.

Which begs the question - did you get a bug up your arse? :)

No, but something like that happened on one of my daughter's previous camping expeditions. It was a one week canoe trip. They canoed during the day and slept outside at night. On finding out that the sanitary facilities consisted of digging a hole and burying it, one of the girls was so grossed out she was constipated for the entire week.

Wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross.

The legislation diverts the state money for the office to a scholarship program for minority engineering students. It also prohibits the use of state funds "to promote the use of gender neutral pronouns, to promote or inhibit the celebration of religious holidays, or to fund or support sex week."

Students protested the legislation at the university Tuesday.

A version of the bill passed the Tennessee House earlier this week that would have funneled $100,000 of the office's funding to printing “In God We Trust” stickers for law enforcement vehicles.

Prisoners have rights too. It runs contrary to our vengeance instincts, but that's a good thing. It separates us from, well, them.
