What if scenario: Could the BTHC fall below 6 teams and lose an autobid

Re: What if scenario: Could the BTHC fall below 6 teams and lose an autobid

What IF California,Oregon, and Washington break free from the continental shelf and sink into the Pacific Ocean? Would the remaining Pac Ten teams join the Big 12,or the Big Ten?

Now that's just dumb. Don't you know any geology? The plates are going the other way! It is more likely that California, Oregon and Washington will rise up in new mountaiin ranges 'cause the Pacific plate is moving under the North American plate. :p

In that case, would the physical merging of California with Arizona and Nevada, Oregon and Washington with Idaho result in a combination of teams for a new "ultra" conference, plus the combination of the schools adding more college hockey programs, with the additional TV revenue of the West coast?

it could happen, too. ;)

Re: What if scenario: Could the BTHC fall below 6 teams and lose an autobid

I find this thread funny based on that fact that someone in the BigTen is actually concerned about academics. Most of those athletes are in courses like "starter English" or "Please let me keep a C average by taking consumer math..." or "indivudual studies." Discussing which athletic conference has the best academics in D-I sports is a joke because I would guess only about 5% or less of the athletes are there with ANY regard to what the academic qualities of the college / university might happen to be...
My hat is off to the athlete who are actually in school to get a free degree first and play sports second, but they are few and far between in the D-I ranks. Yes, I will admit that D-II / D-III is much different, but trying to say ACC vs SEC vs BigTen who has the best degree programs... who really cares? It has nothing to do with sports or most of the athletes.

That reminds me of a joke...

How many SEC freshmen does it take to screw in a light bulb?

None. It's a sophomore level course.

Actually the San Andreas fault is a strike-slip fault. Rather than moving together (convergent) or apart (divergent) the two plates are moving past each other. So in 200 million years when all universities in the continental US are members of the Big Ten, southern California would be in in the right geographic region for USC to form a nice local conference with the Alaska Teams and UBC.

Yeah because that fracking money isn't tainted with the destruction of lives by permanently polluting underground aquifers with an unknown list of toxins wherever they drill.
