What if scenario: Could the BTHC fall below 6 teams and lose an autobid

Re: What if scenario: Could the BTHC fall below 6 teams and lose an autobid

Also: without 3M you wouldn't have your iPhone. Without 3M you wouldn't have the adhesive that holds overhead compartments onto the airliner's fuselage. Without 3M you wouldn't have the best abrasives in the world. You wouldn't have reflective surfaces on traffic signs.

It would seem that you're a product of an inferior ACC education.

And you thought I didn't know 3M was more than just tape. I knew that would inflame all the Minnesota Manufacturers and Miners. I am beginning to sense an academic inferiority complex among Minnesotans. Most of the dissent regarding academics seems to come from that state. I understand why you like to use that resource because it bolsters your reputation which is understandable. Perhaps this is the core reason why fans of the other present members of the WCHA always seem to be at odds with Gopher fans. This just may explain why it has always been UMTC vs. the rest.

You couldn't even get the name right... Isn't it a bit past your bed time?

Without looking it up I believe it to be Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing. However the intent was to address the manufacturers and miners in the great state of Minnesota. You are right about the bedtime, since I live on he east coast we are 1 hour ahead so you can go to bed in a half hour since you need more rest.

Re: What if scenario: Could the BTHC fall below 6 teams and lose an autobid

Nice try but that listing is for research universities only. A lot of universities have graduate programs that are very prominent in non-research fields as well such as Business and Law Schools so those figures you show exclude them from the list. Thus not all graduate rankings are shown. Even so, perhaps when it comes to 5th year seniors grad school information may make a difference but for the vast majority of students the undergraduate academics are what count. Most often students attend grad school at a different school than their undergraduate one anyway. The rust belt coalition of universities will do whatever they can to convince the populace that they are superior but the growth along the southern Atlantic coast will certainly sway a lot of that propaganda toward the actual knowledge centers. Besides how much research about tape can 3M keep convincing the government to spend.

Umm research in science, medicine, and engineering is what drives the economy of this country and regions.

Let's look just in the Boston area.

Even BC with it's high ranking does not contribute as much to the Boston economy compared to other schools that aren't ranked as high.

BU, NU, Wentworth, WPI, UMass Amhrest and Lowell produce alot more of the research work and also the workforce that fuels the medice/tech industry in New England.

Sure business and law schools are nice but they are not the major moving economic force.

This is just painful to read.

Boston College fans, I won't hold this guy against you. We all have one or two of these.

Great post. I find it funny the scientists, the doctors, and the engineers build up the economy only to have the economists and lawyers tear it down. :D :D

Good bye. You are officially too stupid to not be on my ignore list.
Just like the playwright Shaw and Winston Churchill. Shaw offered Churchill 2 tickets for the opening night. One for a friend if he had one. So Churchill replied thanks but he could not attend, but would take 2 for the second night if there was one. Good night.

Re: What if scenario: Could the BTHC fall below 6 teams and lose an autobid

Ok, so yes, this won't happen, but the question was "What IF it did?"

The Big Ten goes down to only 16 conference games, teams like Mich and MN add 4 more home OOC games, and make tons more $. And nobody worries cause maybe once a decade does a school win the tourney and not have an auto bid locked up.

Re: What if scenario: Could the BTHC fall below 6 teams and lose an autobid

Interesting and despicable happening in "Happy Valley" with the President and Athletic Director. Probably not enough to bring the NCAA down on the program, but.....

Never gonna happen. I'd wager any amount on that.

What sort of penalty would the NCAA impose that would cause PSU to no longer be a member of the BTHC? Even during "death penalty" seasons for particular sports (which there's obviously no reason to even consider for the PSU hockey team), those schools are still members of the conferences. BTHC wouldn't lose the autobid during death penalty seasons, which won't occur anyway.

Moot discussion.

What IF California,Oregon, and Washington break free from the continental shelf and sink into the Pacific Ocean? Would the remaining Pac Ten teams join the Big 12,or the Big Ten?

Don't think what's going on is a NCAA issue. The only way this thread gains any traction is if everything Sandusky is accuse of is true, and it was a wide spanning effort to suppress the information where everyone at Penn State fries and the next president of the university decides the best thing to do is to de-emphasize athletics like the University of Chicago.

Pretty unlikely even now, IMO.

I have a better chance of hitting the Powerball jackpot during a threesome with Jessica Alba and Natalie Portman after receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. Even if EVERY word of it is true.

Now THIS is a relevant post. I don't know why I'm reading this thread since it's obviously not going to happen, but the discussion within the irrelevant thread is somehow even more worthless.

One could only hope..
