West Regional Semifinal #1: Nebraska-Omaha vs Michigan

Re: West Regional Semifinal #1: Nebraska-Omaha vs Michigan

Gotta change replay rules in college hockey. Seems like they got the call right, but there is no way they should be allowed 10 minutes to review. No way.

Re: West Regional Semifinal #1: Nebraska-Omaha vs Michigan

I understand they've been reviewing a possible goal for ten minutes and that, if the goal counts, the game is over.

Nobody has said whose goal the puck did or did not go into.

If this goal counts, who wins?

Never mind - the answer was revealed while I was typing this post.

Re: West Regional Semifinal #1: Nebraska-Omaha vs Michigan

I can't see how that was conclusive. But since I think the ugly helmets actually did win, I'm not angry about it.

Re: West Regional Semifinal #1: Nebraska-Omaha vs Michigan

I don't suppose the idea they had to look at it for 20 minutes might have suggested it was less than conclusive occurred to any official?

Re: West Regional Semifinal #1: Nebraska-Omaha vs Michigan

Kinda glad there's no chance UND will have to face Blais. (if they advance that far)

Re: West Regional Semifinal #1: Nebraska-Omaha vs Michigan

Lynch gets credit for the goal.

Waite, sorry for not posting whom "scored" originally. I did mention it once, but just kinda off-hand. Should've been more clear.

It was 10, not 20. And, it took them nearly 6 or 7 minutes to even find a view where the puck wasn't obscured by someone or something. A 3-minute review isn't all that absurd.

kind of like the uvm-af scenario from 09, there doesnt seem to be a way that puck could've done anything but go in.

Re: West Regional Semifinal #1: Nebraska-Omaha vs Michigan

Wow, what a way to lose (or win). But it seemed like the puck was over the line but tough to see.

Re: West Regional Semifinal #1: Nebraska-Omaha vs Michigan

I agree. Even if it was a goal how could you tell? Bad call.
There is a tiny sliver of white on the camera from the far end. The resolution on the screen for my laptop is terrible, so I don't get a good look, but an argument could be made.

Re: West Regional Semifinal #1: Nebraska-Omaha vs Michigan

I think to make the call you should have to actually be able to see the puck on the other side of the line. All the different view certainly add up to a very reasonable assumption that the puck went across the line but there wasn't any view that showed the puck over the line.

I "think" it was a goal BUT ... there was no definitive evidence that it did. I say that makes it a subjective decision and video review is supposed to be the most objective thing a referee does.

Re: West Regional Semifinal #1: Nebraska-Omaha vs Michigan

There was no way to tell it went in. It doesn't matter that we all think it went in, there isn't proof. It shouldn't have counted.

Re: West Regional Semifinal #1: Nebraska-Omaha vs Michigan

just got home and saw the replay... wowza.

question - were these hockey east refs?!? :p

Re: West Regional Semifinal #1: Nebraska-Omaha vs Michigan

Looked like a goal, BUT I could only tell with only the spot shadow that ESPNU provides. Not sure how the refs could have seen that on their own.
