West Regional: North Dakota, Michigan Tech, St. Cloud State, Quinnipiac

Slap Dick, don't you and 4four4 have more important things to worry about, like your season ending loss on Friday, than to come in here and try to troll St. Cloud. I guess I was foolish to think you could overcome your obsession.

I don't worry and you doth project too much.

Are you sure that tree is in North Dakota, and not in Minnesota? I mean it would be easy to confuse the two.

Interesting article on SI online about how little Wisconsin's basketball team fouls and how they are taught to play that way. The Sioux are a lot like that: they are unbelievably clean players, and when they do get called, it's usually a mistake.

When I saw the Whioux in Kalamazoo a month ago, they did not look like a #1 team. Lots of sloppy passes, errant plays, and more "casual interference" than Eddie Olczyk can find during a Wings game. Officiating didn't help (Saw a WMU player fall with no one around and NoDak called for tripping (you know it was bad when the home WMU fans were booing the call) followed next shift by a UND slash that the refs called on WMU).

McIntyre really kept them in it. Along with WMU's ineptitude.

The trick for them will be if they get an officiating crew from the East or West.

Maybe I missed something and you're not being serious, but the Sioux take a lot of penalty minutes (13.31 per game) with Q just behind (13.16). Tech average is 11.95 and St. Cloud among the very least in the nation at 8.68. Or were there some extreme events that skewed their numbers?

I have to laugh Tech fans get so riled up they don't even take the time to read what people wrote in their posts. All the SCSU fans including Tipsy have said any of the teams in this reginal have the ability to win. He only twisted it around because some Tech fans are so over sensitive about everything. Saying one team played a tougher schedule is a valid point saying that is an advantage. Again nobody said that means they are guaranteed to win. Do Tech fans want to talk hockey and discuss the teams or whine about how nobody respects your teams league.

Agree, the Tech fans are wee bit sensative on this thread.

I think the SCSU/Tech game is a toss up. One thing I think SCSU has going for it is they've been playing "must win" hockey for most of the last couple months. Plus they have junior/senior leadership that has been in the NCAA's before. So I don't think they'll be nervous or tight. On the other hand Tech is making its first appearance in 31 years (?). Lots and lots of pressure there. How will they respond?

Even longer. In fact geezer was in kindergarten last time Tech played in the tournament. :p
However, our current coach and players have only missed it for 3 years, and while the past experience will help St. Cloud a little, I don't think it's a big factor.

There was the Tucker Poolman flamethrower incident.

Are we going to see the *** individuals that pass for cheerleaders?

Great hockey mind at work here folks... it's true, the trick for all of NoDak's wins this year has been the officiating. Christ almighty, have we be lucky!

Saw the same series at WMU. I'll agree this is not a vintage North Dakota team.

But they are always dangerous because they have speed. Speed creates mismatches, and eventually penalties. I'm sure the Tech fans can vouch for what bad penalties can do to you against a good team after last Saturday's third period.

Let's not forget that they are the most followed sports team in the world and deserving of a little reverence for that. The refs know.

Yep, because that's absolutely what I was saying.

Wow. We all know there is a difference between the Western officiating and Eastern. Things NoDak may not have been called on could be a point of emphasis by the East refs.

And with the shared pool of officials the NCHC, B1G, and WCHA has, it's going to be interesting who the zebras are for these games.

Obviously NoDak is good, they wouldn't be where they are if they weren't. But some of the slop I saw allowed by both WMU and NoDak could be trouble this weekend.
