I’m not either. There’s a reason I said in a previous post that centrists are also made up of rich, mostly white people, as well, since they benefit from both parties being in power. I do think we make up more of the extremes, whether it’s because we can afford to do so, because we actually believe in more extreme policy positions, a combination of the two, or none of the above.

Bingo.

I am a little perturbed with the moral relativism of the piece but this is well written, is correct about so many things, and is well worth the read.

I saw this on social media but didn’t read it until you posted. The article is pretty accurate in my opinion, which I’m sure makes people on both the left and right uncomfortable.

The one part where I think they miss out is not talking about 9/11. That was a massive turning point for our country and laid the foundation for the problems we have now. There have always been conspiracy theories but to me that was the event in modern times that really led people to not trust the government.

The other thing that I think 9/11 changed is people became less serious and I think there is more of a ‘live for the day’ mindset. It seems like people care a lot less about our country being in good financial health and doesn’t seem like people care as much about leaving the country in a good place for future generations.

It would be nice if these sorts of things appealed to more democrats. As it is, if done by their dear leader the MAGAts would have all been in locked goose-step with the love for moves like this. But I know too many people on the left that either quietly or not so quietly oppose these sorts of things as proof of our imperialistic, war-mongering ways.

The extremes of our side are no where near as bad (and mostly for completely different reasons) as the extremes of the right but if history is a guide, they won't vote and if they don't vote we lose. (fortunately some of the results from yesterday go against that notion) The 2016 election was illustrative of this. Our side thinks, and considers, and questions. Occasionally we should be the ones in complete lock-step and elections right now are the ultimate example.

Straight Blue ticket people, from dog catcher all the way up to the highest office you have on your ballot. If you have races that are "non-partisan" check with the local or state Democtratic party to see who they endorse and vote for them.

This is The Way.

Biden's one real shortcoming as president is he could use a better PR director. Frankly, with a senate that threatens on a daily basis to operate as 52-48 republican, he has done as much in 18 months as anyone could probably fairly expect. We simply don't live in a world anymore where presidents can succeed with the bully pulpit alone. Biden's big obstacle is American voters are fickle and often stupid.

Word on Kos is it was going to be $50k but we kneecapped ourselves, because that's what we do.

It's a start. Free tuition, single payer, universal child care, and UBI are the finish. We'll get there; the Centrists just feel a few more million people have to suffer, first, for them to be comfortable.

Biden never supported $50k. That was never seriously, if ever, considered. As Spartan pointed out, he promised $10k on the campaign trail.
