Re: WCHA Thread IV

Coming up after Turkey Day:

Bemidji State @ Minnesota State

Minnesota-Duluth @ North Dakota

St. Cloud State @ Wisconsin

Ohio State @ Princeton

Minnesota @ New Hampshire

Should be a good series in Grand Forks, @ Princeton & New Hampshire as well.

Toughest ones to predict would appear to be the first two.
Yep...I guess I anticipate the UMD trip to The Ralph as a marquee matchup within the conference. With a few of us kinda expecting the Whioux to be the team to put it together and mount a challenge for the top. There would be no better launch pad than this one. Karvinen back allowing Mo to drop back to D...maybe cut down those GA numbers and score more. I wonder...will there be vocal coaches advising officials in this one?

Karvinen had an immediate impact as she came back last weekend and played great against the beavers. I expect two close games but und takes two! And also at least one coach blowup! :)

Re: WCHA Thread IV

Minnesota-Duluth @ Bemidji State: Go Beavers! Out of the basement now time for a sweep!

Ohio State @ Minnesota State: Important series for the Buckeyes. Aren't they all.

Wisconsin @ Minnesota!!!

St. Cloud State @ Lindenwood

RIT @ North Dakota: Has Sioux uprising commenced?

Re: WCHA Thread IV

Looking ahead:

Minnesota @ Bemidji State

Minnesota State @ St. Cloud State

North Dakota @ Wisconsin

RIT @ Ohio State

Boston University @ Minnesota-Duluth

Re: WCHA Thread IV

Looks like I missed a memo, so I guess I'll have to ask: How come you guys are favoring UW over UND?

Nothing wrong with it, mind you. Just wondering what the rest of the story is.:)

Re: WCHA Thread IV

North Dakota wears green. End of story. It's Hockey Rule #1: Always root against a team wearing green.

I don't share in the Wisconsin hatred that afflicts most of the rest of Gopher fandom. It comes from having grown up in Ann Arbor rather than around here. The team I root for changed, but not the ones I really dislike: Michigan State and Ohio State. Wisconsin is probably my second favorite team.

There is also a list of reasons I dislike North Dakota specifically.

Re: WCHA Thread IV

In my case, the more breathing room the Gophers can get over whatever team is in second place (sorry pgb and osualum86), the happier I'll be. Two UND losses to UW would be an early Christmas gift.

Re: WCHA Thread IV

Can't really blame the UND women's hockey team for that any more than one can blame GWH for the actions of the Minnesota basketball team before any of them were born.

Re: WCHA Thread IV

I don't hold them responsible for that particular incident, but it is of a type with a lot of behavior out of the North Dakota hockey program over the years. The pattern is certainly one of the reasons I dislike them so much. Certainly some of my dislike of the women's team is carryover from my feelings about their men's team, but they have displayed some of the same tendencies.
