WCHA Playoffs '11.0

Re: WCHA Playoffs '11.0

By calling the time-out, I am sure it had a lot to do with the penalty the Gophs received following the 2nd of the quick OSU goals and their desire to rest one of their main PP players who had just scored both of those goals.

I would think that after scoring two goals, the adrenaline would make up for any weariness McIntosh may have been feeling. Agree with xfan, it was a momentum killer for osu.

Re: WCHA Playoffs '11.0

OSU scores two goals less than a minute apart in the second period and looks like they have a bit of a rally going and close the gap to 4-2. OSU bench has come to life and MN looks a bit rattled. A time-out is called....by OSU. They essentially kill their own momentum.

I agree with 'gramp. Essentially, the time out worked. McIntosh was able to remain on the ice and set up Langan for the goal to make it 4-3. By some twist of fate, Langan's shot went away from the goal rather than toward it. Maybe there was something on her shot attempt that I didn't see like a Gopher stick, but I can't blame the OSU bench, because the Buckeyes DID have the momentum for the rest of the 2nd period.

Saw something similar in the HS tourney yesterday -- SSP called timeout immediately after scoring the only goal in a 1-0 game. Coaches can't be afraid of what fans will say; they have to make the calls that they think give their team the best chance to win.

Re: WCHA Playoffs '11.0

It'll be interesting to see how both teams come out today. Like yesterday it is very important the Gophers establish control and grab the early lead. If they can they then need to maintain their intensity and put them away. Don't give them any hope! They didn't do that yesterday; rather they went into cruise control mode and allowed the Buckeyes to get back into the game. Until then the Gophers were playing Gopher hockey at its best; in fact the score could have easily been more lopsided than 4-0.

Nice description of the goal mouth bunt ACROSS THE CREASE BEHIND THE GOALIE but somehow NOT into the net.

A stunning moment.

No surprises this weekend:

Wisconsin sweeps St. Cloud
UMD sweeps Mankato
Minnesota sweeps Ohio State
No score yet on ND and Bemidji

No surprises? You called it for OSU in three. I read it here first...oh wait, I understand...you're not surprised you were dead wrong. Nor am I.

BSU wins tonight, 3-0.

Yet your highness questioned a smackdown of the Mavs. Can't wait to see you when UMD saddles up on the Gopher bench.

Re: WCHA Playoffs '11.0

I'd love a true Cinderella story -- Bemidji State.

The Beavers are fighting and playing their hearts out for another trip to Ridder this season. Hope they can knock the Sioux off today.

Re: WCHA Playoffs '11.0

BSU ties at 2 with just under 5 minutes left, 2nd period. This may be do or die for the Sioux, especially with Dartmouth coming on in the PWR/RPI

silly me, sorry, forgot to adjust for time zones, and assumed LiveStats was wrong. (I mean, that's not ridiculous, right?)

Yep, end of 2, tied 2-2.

Rooting for the underdog, and excited for the Beavers. :)
