Re: WCHA Playoffs '11.0

xwildfan's, I think you were a bit inconsistent in your post.

First, I agree that it is entirely possible that OSU will beat the Gophers two out of three this weekend. And I think most would agree that based on each team's record and where they are seeded this would be regarded as an upset. But I don't think anyone here would think of OSU winning the series as a miracle, or even a "borderline miracle". The Buckeyes have too much talent for that! As you point out they have "five current or past national team players" on the team so how could a series win be regarded as a borderline miracle?

We would agree that the Buckeyes have underperformed this year - no doubt they've disappointed. But "dismal" team results? Good thing you're not a St. Cloud or a Brown fan!

P.S. Now if the Gophers team were to beat Ohio State in football, which hasn't happened for as long as I can remember, THAT would be what I would call a REAL MIRACLE! ;)

Were as I doubt an upset of the Gophers is in the near future I do see the possibility of Bemiji upsetting the Fighting Souix. If this series goes 3 I can see Idalski playing the twins so much in the first two games that there will be nothing left in the tank for Sundays match.

Tomcikova will need to have a ridiculously stellar weekend. Love to see an upset in this one.

Re: WCHA Playoffs '11.0

I also feel ND and Bemidji are very close and probably a coin flip. The key would be again for bemidji to stay out of the box. I love ND's PP and they won't lose if they get more opportunities on the PP.

Games are at the county rink so anything might happen... Neutral ice.

As far as this comment: Tomcikova will need to have a ridiculously stellar weekend. Love to see an upset in this one. She always does and will. She'll just need to be her usuall self.

Ok, we may need to put a breathalizer function on here before posts can be made. Unless the entire UMD team is in quarantine I don't think this will happen. This coming from a Maverick fan.

Re: WCHA Playoffs '11.0

Wish I could make it to the Forks for this weekend. BSU men against the Sioux Saturday and Sunday Afternoon, BSU women against the Sioux Friday and Saturday nights and possibly Sunday. A lot of Green and White in the Forks this weekend!

GO BEAVERS!

Brooky just never forgets some of the things said by a barking 'dog. And when the MSU plays UMD, every non-UMD fan is a Maverick fan. However, you're right -- just like Coach Ditka and the mini-Bears, Coach Miller and her wardrobe will find a way to win this series even if the entire team is in quarantine.

Taz, he's baiting me because he's got nothing better to do but to creep the forums. But I love your suggestion. Actually, if there was a "sanity" function before posting, that would be much better.

Any chance you will be making the trek to Duluth to support your team?

Re: WCHA Playoffs '11.0

Just want to wish all the teams good luck tonight . . . and that everyone makes it out healthy!! I like to think of this weekend as the start of another National title owned by the WCHA . . . just not sure which team it will be . . .:D:eek::rolleyes:

I'd love a true Cinderella story -- Bemidji State.

Well...looks like it'll be pretty exciting come Sunday at AMSOIL.

...Hic...

Re: WCHA Playoffs '11.0

OSU v Gophers game more competitive than expected. Although a coaching move by OSU had us scratching our heads. OSU scores two goals less than a minute apart in the second period and looks like they have a bit of a rally going and close the gap to 4-2. OSU bench has come to life and MN looks a bit rattled. A time-out is called....by OSU. They essentially kill their own momentum.

Have never seen that before.

The quick two goal rally was unnerving for this Gopher fan and I would agree with your opinion on it's affect. Agree as well on a time out seems unusual at that moment and possibly detrimental to the Buckeye cause.

Scoring those goals vs. a hypothetical shutout will give OSU some jump today just the same I think...and I pretty much expect a very intense battle in the rematch. Very impressed with Reilly's effort if she's playing with the injury mentioned previously.

Re: WCHA Playoffs '11.0

By calling the time-out, I am sure it had a lot to do with the penalty the Gophs received following the 2nd of the quick OSU goals and their desire to rest one of their main PP players who had just scored both of those goals.
