WCHA Pick 'Em 2019-2020

Just realized I never got picks in this week, lots of unexpected things going on. Unfortunately, it's looking like this rollercoaster ride is going to continue for while. I wish everyone good luck and hope to play again next year.

Post entries tonight for tomorrow’s games!

Re: WCHA Pick 'Em 2019-2020

Two contestants exhibited pure Pick 'Em prowess by correctly picking 9 of 10 week 8 games (including Tech's sweep of arch-rival NMU): NHBEAVERFAN and 2017-18 Playoff Champion Wi.HuskiesFan. And yet another name tops the leaderboard -- Stauber1 now has the target placed squarely on their back. Despite missing this week's picks, IceKnight81 remains in the lead for the Mason Cup. Reminder that to win this prestigious award you need to participate in at least 3/4 of the season.

Week 9 brings us to Thanksgiving. Hopefully everyone has a wonderful holiday.

Re: WCHA Pick 'Em 2019-2020

The week 9 tri-winners with 27 out of a possible 34 points were hawerchuck, Icd80, and puckdude40. Stauber1's lead has gone from 6 to 5 but now it's puckdude40 doing the chasing. Shout out to MTUHuskies who was the only player to pick Huntsville's upset over Northern and hawerchuck and <3_Blizzard who were the only two players to pick BG's sweep over the Domers. 15 players picked the Mav's to sweep so no shout outs there.

The bonus is back for weeks 10 and 11 so anyone who missed last week's picks has a great chance to make up some lost ground.

Re: WCHA Pick 'Em 2019-2020

While there were some solid scores posted this week, there's only one name worth mentioning -- BGFan collected 32 out of a possible 33 points by picking all 8 games correctly and scoring 9 out of 10 on the bonus. As for the bonus, geezer lead the way with 10 points by correctly picking 47 home team assists for all 8 games. Here's how the rest of the field "bonused up" this week:

Code:
Player Bonus Points
geezer 10
BGFan 9
gochiefs 8
kckrieg84 8
mbenecke 8
Footballguy51 7
puckdude40 7
TalonsUpPuckDown 7
walktheline 7
GIWAN 6
MTUHuskyGold 6
Soulbeaver 6
Stauber1 6
Wi.HuskiesFan 6
MTUHuskies 5
mikeeddy19 4
MSUMaverickFan 4
Scrum Bucket 4
beaverhockeyfan 3
<3_Blizzard 1
BGSURICK 1

Stauber1 maintains the lead in the race for the MacNaughton Cup by 2 over mbenecke and is now in a tie for the Mason Cup honors with puckdude40. Here are the current Mason Cup leaders (picking more than 2/3 of the winners in this league is pretty darned good):

Code:
Player Pts %	Games
Stauber1	0.685 111
puckdude40	0.685 111
Scrum Bucket	0.671 85
IceKnight81	0.670 93
sonofcrossjcek	0.670 101
MavHockey14	0.670 110
mbenecke	0.670 111
MissThundercat	0.667 111
beaverhockeyfan	0.667 111

The bonus question for week 11 is one that's brand new, never-before-seen-in-this-contest and you have BroncoHockeyFan to thank (or blame). Post any questions to the board and we'll answer them pronto.

Re: WCHA Pick 'Em 2019-2020

I missed a couple of weekends last year and as the year ended I just couldn't get enough points. My % was ok, but I was out anyway.

Re: WCHA Pick 'Em 2019-2020

I can't get a link on my phone for this week again. Most recent I see is for week 9. Can you please post it again?

Re: WCHA Pick 'Em 2019-2020

This was a tough week. 9 players whiffed on all 4 of Saturday's games. Out of 33 possible points for the week, mbenecke led the way with 23 points of which 10 were from the bonus. This performance vaulted him into first place over last week's leader Stauber1. As for the bonus, it was a pretty good one...we'll add this to the regular rotation. At the 13:19 mark of the second period on Friday, BG's Max Johnson scored his 5th goal of the season. The next goal went to BG's Cameron Wright at the 19:50 mark of the third for a total time between goals of 26:31 which is rounded up to 27:00. On Saturday, Ferris' Zach Yoder scored his 3rd of the season at the 17:56 mark of the first period. No other goals were scored until Marshall Moise lit the lamp at the 4:06 mark of the third for for a total time between goals of 26:10 which is rounded up to 27:00. So yeah, I guess the final result is 27 minutes. Manurespreader was the only other player to pick up 10 bonus points.

It's holiday tournament time! There are two tournaments each with two WCHA teams entered (GLI and Mariucci). For the second day, pick all the games; I'll only use the actual games played. Also, since tournament OT rules are not consistent (and I can't figure out which tournament abides by which rules), the NCAA 65 minutes "rule" will be observed for the GLI, Mariucci, and Catamount Cup. This means after 65 minutes these games could end in a tie regardless of the final outcome so the Tie option is in play.

Since there are quite a few days between now and the end of the year, I'll post the week 13 picks later in December so that everyone has plenty of time to pick the January games.
