WCHA first round - Minnesota @ North Dakota 3/14/10

Re: WCHA first round - Minnesota @ North Dakota 3/14/10

If you want to talk about idiot fans, go to Maryhoochi for any series wearing an away team's sweater. You will learn about idoit fans.

In fact, take your grandfather, wife, and child and stand at a distance. There is no fan they will not crudely harass or often intimidate. I've seen parents remove their kid's jerseys before going to the restroom to avoid the idiots.

Anyway, some back-and-forth is great. But, every game I've gone to at Maryhoochi has had incidents where away fans are unfairly and excessively harassed by idiots.

Hey Goalie...

Thank you for quoting me in your sig!!! :) Im honored!

at least the fans don't punch each other in the head, and have to go to the hospital like at UND.

Too busy watching the game to dig up the rule, but I think it's up to the ref to make the judgment on handing out a DQ/game misconduct for any contact to the head penalty depending on its severity.

I can live with that. Officials aren't expected to assess intent; yet they should assess severity.

I've never had a problem wearing my Bemidji State shirts/hat there...

Stories like this (nearly always embellished) exist pretty much everywhere.

You mean like at every other arena? They all have aholes.

OMG...I can't believe you are actually defending Minnesota fans. With the EXCEPTION of Wild fans, they are the biggest bunch of d-bags in sports. Rabid fans are one thing, but the single-digit IQ type of vulgar a-holes that fill Viking or Gopher games are in a class by themselves.

That' probably because they were harassing a woman or child...

And, Brenthoven, there are idiots at each location, but the density is highly disproportionate at UMN. And again, one can live with a few jabs, but the severity at UMN is outrageous.

The Sioux are now showing us why they will be in the tourney, and (probably) not us. :(

Hmmm...as much as I hate to defend gopher fans, I've been to the hooch a couple times, and I wasn't harrassed. I actually had a great time each time I was there.
