WCHA First Round - Minnesota Hosts UAA (Let's call it the vengeance series)

Re: WCHA First Round - Minnesota Hosts UAA (Let's call it the vengeance series)

you are one of the mushy-brained gopher fans I was talking about... 10X better? Supposed premier program? Don't forget that people watch NoDak play all over the US through directTV and that if 7 NC$$ titles makes us "supposed", what does that make the goofs? gorg and lapanta are clowns and they do not make bigger homers. But again, that is what most goofer fans crave...
Name a college team with a better team of announcers.

I miss Doug and Frank, they hated UND and god bless them for not being shy. Pat Sweeney blows goats but Tim Hennesy is fun and should have Pat's job. I feel like my ears are being raped everytime Pat squeals "shot and a gooooal!"

Must be nice to complain about having your games on television across the county. People will complain about anything

Other than UND and MN, does another school have a dedicated network/broadcast team for its games?

Obviously, there's a few games carried on NBC's sports network, BTN, etc - but none of those are exclusive broadcasts to a particular school.

The bottom line is I don't think too many UND fans like their broadcasters, and it's hard to imagine too many MN fans liking theirs, either. Doug and the Rug were far superior to this clownish crew.

I hate when people who don't end their posts with a period. Seriously, it's not that difficult, yet some just can not do it. Idiots.

Glad (?) to see that some UAA fans can admit that. ;)

The reffing was horrible all around last night. So inconsistent.

Actually, Brent, it was VERY consistent. Anything even vaguely looking like a penalty against the Gophers got called all night long, but only the most blatant couple of penalties against UAA got whistled.

Now, other than the Budish phantom trip, I think most of the penalties against the Gophs were at least arguably legit. The problem is that they didn't call things the same both ways. Rau getting tripped much more obviously than the AA player falling down near Budish was just the worst example.

I'll, take that trip call for a no goal call...bottom line is/was those refs were terrible last night. We'll see about tonight. UAA's lack of offense sees them pack it in tonight and head home. Good luck to both teams.

Re: WCHA First Round - Minnesota Hosts UAA (Let's call it the vengeance series)

I just enjoy that they all hated Frank and Doug. And now they hate Lapanta and Gorg.

Heck, they could put ScoobyDoo and Slap Shot in the booth and they'd hate us too.

You don't need to be in the booth for that to happen.

That would be an awesome broadcast.

Scooby: This loss in the fourth week of the season really did us in. This team is completely screwed.

Slap Shot: WHY DON'T YOU TO US ALL A FAVOR AND NOT WATCH THEM THEN?!

I don't care who you are that's funny right there. ;)

Although I didn't think I had any tendencies. :D

I've complained about it several times
UMD has a broadcast team for their local broadcasts
I support homerism when it means getting more excited for the team you are being paid to announce, but try to be honest about when a penalty is a penalty or offsides is offsides
THE Bulldog announcers have never seen a penalty against their squad and the opposition commits one every minute in their eyes
The Gopher announcers can be a little boring, Gorg seems to try too hard sometimes to use colorfull descriptions, and they aren't always correct with their interpretation of events, but at least they try to be impartial with things like penalties or describing how well the Gophs or the opposition are playing
They aren't as good as Doug and the Rug, but still do a passable job
And I don't know why people complain about them getting more excited for the Gophs play than the opponents
Most of the people watching are Gopher fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Considering it is impossible to discern which team scores a goal when LaPanta shouts "SCOOOOOOOORES!" (especially against UND), I think it is safe to say he is hardly a homer.

Haula is in the lineup centering the second line. So that's good.

Great to hear Haula is good to go, Larson is a nice 4th line option as well.

Deal with it

Sound like there are many penalties in tonight's game

Interesting

:)

Great comeback tonight and win, they dominated most of the game minus the 5 on 3 for UAA.

Will be fun going to the Final Five with the Gophers actually playing this year.

Haula is coming on strong, which is huge.
