WCHA Final Five Quarterfinals - BSU vs. UMD: Time to make some top hats!

Re: WCHA Final Five Quarterfinals - BSU vs. UMD: Time to make some top hats!

Well, if we wanted to wallow in D-3 we could have had your sad little trophies, too.

You haven't won at every level. Next you're going to call yourselves a DYNASTY!!!!!1111!!!!

He does have a point. They can call themselves champions. Can you? Yes you'll throw out the D3 whine again, but the fact remains... go to the BSU rink and you will see many championship banners up there. UMD can't say that.

If I were a betting man I would put my money on BSU hanging another championship banner before UMD does. Discuss ;) :D:p

I thought you were a betting man??? :D

RWD just doesn't like Bemidji (or "buttmidji" as she likes to refer to it). Not sure what the issue is, but no matter the facts you throw her way, she will always come back to the D-II, D-III and NAIA banners. Deep down, I think she is envious of all the banners hanging in the Sanford Center, but just doesn't want to admit it. Kind of like the bully on the school yard, always attacking someone because they have something that you wish you had, even though you deny it in public. :p

FWIW, RWD, I am just playing with ya. Got to get a shot in when I can :)

I'll say that's true... except for a Broadmoor. I'd give UMD better odds to raise that banner before BSU does. We weren't really talking about that in this conversation but figured I'd throw it out there.

Don't bite the hand of the people who felt bad for you and allowed you in their conference.

Hardly. I was all for it. You really want to turn down beavers? I think not.

Anyways, maybe someday there will be an all MN team conference after another school or two goes D1. Probably never happen, but I think it would be pretty interesting to see.

Re: WCHA Final Five Quarterfinals - BSU vs. UMD: Time to make some top hats!

I did'nt realize that some of the UMD posters own the WCHA and are responsible for BSU admittance. Thank you.

I won blue ribbons and trophies in elementary school. Go me!

The facts are BSU was the third worst team in the WCHA this season and barring three wins this weekend they will not be going to the NCAA tournament while UMD will be. So tell me again why Beaver fans are puffing their chests?

Beaver Hockey: We're better than Tech!

Well now you know.

You guys are acting like the newcomer at work that comes in and thinks he's entitled to what everyone else has worked years for. It doesn't work that way. Be thankful you're here, but realize that you could have easily been folded.

By your statement, it's obvious that you are misinformed about the "could have easily been folded." Check out the vote by the WCHA coaches to accept BSU. We jumped through every hoop the WCHA put out. The CHA was formed as a holding conference for the D-II teams that made the jump to D-I but needed to get through the red tape to get into another conference. It was intended to dissolve. There were a lot of coaches nationally, and in the WCHA, (including your boy Sandlein), that wanted BSU in the WCHA. I seriously doubt they would have voted against BSU and watch our team fold. Ask any coach out there - when you have the tradition BSU has as a quality hockey club, they want that team around.

So, don't get too high and mighty about how I'm acting like a newcomer, entitled to something. BSU has to earn their wins. If you're shortsighted, as it seems that a few people who have responded are, this whole thing didn't just take place two seasons ago. Most of the legwork was done years ago. Even though its easy to talk single season by single season, this was set into motion years ago. And there never was a threat of BSU folding.

At any rate, the game will be a good one. Hell, I hope your boys are looking past us to Denver.

You "GUYS" don't lump the whole fan base together because "ONE" poster said something. ONEQUOTE=dogs2012;5084612]Well now you know.

If it wasn't for BSU playing the team with the most favorable playoff matchup for them they would not be here. UMD had to play through the hottest team in the WCHA and the team no one wanted to play.

See, you keep talking about this shortsightedness, and how it's been in "motion" for years. No, it hasn't. You've been basically irrelevant until pretty recently. You can brag all you want about your titles outside of D-I, but to be honest, they don't count. That would be like UMD's football team going D-1 next year, and saying that we are a quality program with many banners because we've won the D-II championship. Newsflash, anything less than D-I in hockey doesn't matter. Heck, in any sport it doesn't matter. So, you can brag all you want about your couple of NCAA births and wins, but in reality, they are just wins other schools get to make fun of St. Cloud with.

Ok, here's how irrelevant we are:

“You can go back to Bob Peters as Bemidji’s coach and see the tradition that was built there,” UMD coach Scott Sandelin said Tuesday. “They’ve won national titles in the NAIA and Division II and III, and have been to national tournaments in Division I and been competitive. Their teams are always extremely competitive and hard-working. Tom Serratore is fiery and that’s how his teams play.”

In your opinion, nothing counts unless it's D-I? I take it you didn't celebrate the Dogs winning two football titles in three years? That's cool. I'll take it if that's the case.

I'll be at Grandma's on Thursday watching the game. Anyone else going there?

What would else could Sandelin say? As much as I wish Sandy would say the same thing dogs2012 has been saying, he won't.

I would go to Grandma's but I have to do my schooling.

Um, duh. The commissioner is a tUMD alumnus.

It doesn't even matter if Buttmidji beats tUMD tomorrow. We'll still be heading to the tourney and your days of the cute little auto-bid are done. Bemidji has EARNED their way into the tournament exactly ONCE. Unimpressive.

BTW, Houseote, coaches never say what they really think. But hey, keep living in a fantasy world if that's what you need to get through the day.

Yeah, I'll probably have to miss most of the first period. Gotta do the work thing.... I'm hoping for an exciting game.
