WCHA Final 5 (6) ((5)) - You Know (I Think) What I Mean

Re: WCHA Final 5 (6) ((5)) - You Know (I Think) What I Mean

Have you been to North Dakota? I don't think that is true for them at all.

:D

It really depends on what you want to do. If you like the outdoors, North Dakota is great for hunting, camping and fishing. There's a lot more water type activities that you can do in North Dakota than Colorado. There are also way more opportunities for Bingo :p:D:D

Re: WCHA Final 5 (6) ((5)) - You Know (I Think) What I Mean

CC hardly has the alumni base that schools like UND, and especially Wisconsin and Minnesota, have. Most WCHA cities are FULL of people from those schools. Nobody is questioning the dedication of UND fans, and the fact that you travel very well. But it's apples and oranges. We don't have the number of hard-core fans that those schools have, but that doesn't mean we don't have great fans.

The point is that even though schools like CC and DU may not travel well, in spite of everything else going on in Colorado, they draw VERY well at home, even without the huge alumni base of many other schools. So you guys can dump on that, but let's face it, in most areas, college hockey is a niche sport. People like WestCoastSioux can rip on CC fans all they want, but the fact that we are always in the top 5-6 in the nation in home attendance speaks much more loudly than an idiot like that.

JS Tigers and I have talked about this before, we both like the Sioux hockey team. WestCoastSioux was out of line and plain wrong. In years past CC has even had higher attendance then Michigan. The only reason Michigan will out draw CC this season is because of their one outdoor game that drew 115,000.

Also, Grand Forks has one division 1 hockey team, Colorado Springs has two to support. But then again, Grand Forks is not Colorado Springs.

So Dirty, stay a Sioux fan, that way I can continue to watch CO14ers beat up on you.

Who is CO14ers again? I have trouble remembering all the little people.

Also who is Brian Canada?

Re: WCHA Final 5 (6) ((5)) - You Know (I Think) What I Mean

Unlike the state of North Dakota, we in Colorado have tons of great things to see and do. It is called variety! In North Dakota, you only have one good thing going for you! The Sioux. Heck, even you know that, and that is why you no longer live in North Dakota! If you ask me, I would not brag just because you have one good thing in the whole state going for you!

By the way, if I could get off work I would be in St. Paul. With 58 or 59 college teams for CC to be #6 in the nation in attendance speaks well considering the many great things to do around these parts. Like I said North Dakota has one good thing! Enjoy your one thing!!

Go Tigers!!

What a waste of time to have this argument. The reality is that North Dakota fans travel so well to the Final Five because most of them can drive to St Paul from wherever they live. CC fans usually have to fly. Hey there are more Minnesota fans there than any other fans because THEY LIVE THERE. I'm a North Dakota fan but I typically root for CC unless the Sioux are playing them. Back to hockey talk.

Be very afraid of Duluth. They have a very good team and were within an eyelash of getting a bye. I think Duluth will beat Bemidji State. For BSU to have any chance Bakala needs to stand on his head like he did in Omaha. The night game is a toss up. The UAA team I saw that scored 4 twice on Mankato and 6 against Minnesota was not the defensive team everyone talks about. I think they had something like 38 shots on goal on Friday against Minnesota. Still I think CC has better talent and pulls this one out. CC needs a win to get in the NCAAs and I think they'll get it. In the semifinals all bets are off. The DU and Duluth game will be a tossup. North Dakota will be favored on Friday night but they haven't really played a top team in a while so we'll see what happens.

As always the Final Five will be a blast. The St Patrick's Day parade is at noon Thursday so the bars will be packed. Get there and enjoy the festivites and the the hockey. I will :)

Re: WCHA Final 5 (6) ((5)) - You Know (I Think) What I Mean

They have to do well on their ACT's. It's the only way they can get the hell out of your state. Motivation goes a long way.

Is it the same story for Minnesota then? Because the average here is even higher.

Re: WCHA Final 5 (6) ((5)) - You Know (I Think) What I Mean

While drinking in public when you're not 21 is a brilliant idea.

Underage drinking + Drinking in public is a better fate than recieving a DUI + Open container + Underage drinking

good luck with that. Most of them are packed beyond belief and getting a drink is not easy.

My suggestion is not drinking. Dirty and I do ok with that

Yeah the bars can get crowded that is for sure and there is nothing wrong with not drinking.

However if you do want to drink, many of the bars have outdoor areas with tents and heaters (although its suppose to be pretty nice this year) and there are usually less people and an outdoor bar.

Re: WCHA Final 5 (6) ((5)) - You Know (I Think) What I Mean

As we just can’t walk the bus station dragging Aunt Bea’s suitcase and a quart of beer in a paper bag and pony up $95.00 for a round trip bus ride to Minneapolis.

whatever it is, it will be more than North Dakota will give out as they have hosting their last post season game. As the North Dakota State Legislature played their hand and will wait for the NCAA to play theirs. I foresee a lot more tractor pulls and lawn mower races in the ‘Ralph.

Why are you so angry and bitter? Your team hasn't even lost yet, wait a couple of days then come back.

Quart of beer? You'd have to travel many furlongs to find a quart of beer, it may take a fortnight.

Yes, with the NCAA not using home arenas to host regionals and the Frozen Four having a higher seating requirement The Ralph has likely hosted its last NCAA playoff event. Not sure why this is relevant though as it isn't exactly news. Or were you suggesting that UND wouldn't be able to host WCHA playoff games? Cause if you were don't worry, your bottom dwelling program can look forward to many more long flights to UND to get snuffed out of the playoffs.

Re: WCHA Final 5 (6) ((5)) - You Know (I Think) What I Mean

I'm sorry, but this whole argument that Colorado fans "have better things to do" is just stupid. Everyone everywhere has other things to do (yes that includes North Dakota fans as well). Quit making excuses and just accept it.
There are no excuses necessary for anything, so I'm not sure where you get that idea. Our schools draw better than almost everyone else in the country. That's my whole point. So accept THAT.

Re: WCHA Final 5 (6) ((5)) - You Know (I Think) What I Mean

CC fans will prove once again this weekend how much they have to do by not showing up to support their team.

This argument is awesome. CC fans have better things to do than going to CC games. IALTO!

EXACTLY! These guys are such GREAT fans! Funny how they pat one another on the back for coming online to USCHO and posting about how great of a fan they are. I'm JS Tiger and I have 1,346,987 posts which proves I am a LOYAL fan! Give me a break!! Some of you CC and DU fans are pathetic! "I can't make it to the Final 5 because I have sooooo many other things to do!" BLAH, BLAH, BLAH! Where the F were you for game 3 on Sunday night vs. Wisconsin? Oh, that's right...that's CHURCH day here in Co. Springs! I can't possibly go to perhaps the LAST game of my beloved Tiger's season! The place was *** half empty! I'm a Sioux fan and a college hockey fan and I WAS there..where were you??? I feel bad for the team, not the lame fans at CC.

You are ripping on the wrong fan about showing up, little girl. I missed a total of four games this season, which has been about normal for me aside from my time living in Boston. Actually, Those of us who post here were all at the game Sunday night, along with 5500 others. And again, I would love to be at the Final Five, but I unfortunately do not have the money to make the trip.

It's easy to be a Sioux fan with the success your program has had. Yeah, it takes real dedication to cheer for a perennial winner and championship contender. Of course there are so many of you.

I am always amazed at how many UND fans are so surprised by the lukewarm fan support at CC and DU. You simply can't compare UND hockey to DU and CC.

North Dakota has no pro teams.......................................... Colorado has 12 pro teams
North Dakota hockey is intensely important in ND...................DU and CC are rarely mentioned in Colorado
North Dakota Hockey is Front Page News in ND.............................CC and DU found on page 15 of the sports section here
UND is a state flagship university with statewide following.......DU and CC are small private schools, no statewide following
UND Primary Sports Attraction in State.................................DU and CC ranked # 15-20 among other Colorado teams
Hockey is part of upper midwest culture................................Hockey is niche sport in Colorado
UND attracts in state students ...........................................DU and CC are majority out of state students
North Dakota is made up mostly of natives.............................Colorado is mostly transplants who follow teams from home
North Dakota is almost always top level hockey.......................DU and CC have had longer fallow periods
North Dakota appeals to male fans........................................DU and CC are mostly crowds of older people and families
Many North Dakotans have played the game...........................Few DU and CC people have played hockey
UND sports are recruits who they want..................................DU and CC are worried more about academics
Many North Dakotans have moved to Colorado........................Almost no Coloradans libve in North Dakota

You just cannot compare the two....

It's not easy being a CC Fan. You have to go to games. Often twice a weekend! It leaves so little time for other things. :(

It's not easy being a Sioux fan. You have to live in North Dakota and travel to games just to get away. :p

LOLWHUT?!?!? North Dakotan's leave their state? I don't buy that line at all. Just look at all the regionally-tagged names of the UND posters here at USCHO ... um ... oh wait ... uh ... nevermind.

Re: WCHA Final 5 (6) ((5)) - You Know (I Think) What I Mean

I can see why you'd be confused by the concept, Donald. The only time you leave your house is to be one of 1200 people at UAA games.

Re: WCHA Final 5 (6) ((5)) - You Know (I Think) What I Mean

Isn't the Ralph the only place in North Dakota that doesn't smell like beets or manure?

That would definitely explain why so many people go to the games.

What's even funnier than the deluge of people that can't wait to leave North Dakota is the deluge of people that move from Grand Forks for the bright lights and sophistication of Fargo.

Just because you don't have a car and have to ride the bus to get anywhere, doesn't mean the rest of us are world travelers for leaving the city limits.
