I doubt they would make her a competitive money offer. what about Darwitz?

Plenty of challenges remain in Columbus if that’s what drives Muzerall.

Her current base salary is around $385k. Now that OSU won the FB championship it will be interesting to see how the money flows and what impact that has on talks of building their rink or do they continue to focus on upgrading FB facilities. After all they still lost to Michigan this past season.

Yes we joked that now the women can get a rink. But let’s be real, if they wanted to, they would.

I don’t think the Tommies are getting Muzerall. It will be exciting when their rink opens.

Curious if Darwitz ever gets a D1 shot anywhere.

Would not be surprised if John Wroblewski gets the eventual Wisconsin job either, maybe the Tommies could get him first?

Totally agree that they have the money so if it was a priority it would have happened by now.

I saw this breakdown of the money schools received from the whole CFP.
- $4m for qualifying
- $4m for making quarters
- $6m for making semis
- $6m for making finals

That's $20 million by making it to the finals. If the shovels don't hit the ground this spring then it's not a priority.

I feel that if Wisconsin's dream season concludes with a national title Johnson calls it a career and we'll see somebody new next year there as well.

Assuming the rules in the playoff era is not different than was the case for 'normal' bowl games, all monies earned by all Big Ten teams is pooled, and split evenly among the member schools. MAYBE the new schools get a smaller share during a 'probationary' period?

But it is quite likely NOT the case that Ohio State keeps all $20 million.

Dan Koch is the associate head coach, I'd bet a lot of money he gets the job when it comes open. If not Koch, there's no way that dude is getting an interview with UW. I also guess the Tommies will just make the interim head coach the permanent coach.

You are probably correct they won't keep the whole $20m. The only one who will is Notre Dame since they are not in a conference. They also got like $3m per round for travel and preparation expenses and winning it all will bring revenue via other avenues. I think we can agree that OSU has the money to upgrade the hockey facilities for the hockey programs.

She deserves the chance. If/when Frost leaves (or worse) she could well be the first call if it's not Muzerall (I can see Muzerall not getting along with our AD as a head coach). I think she is pretty well committed to staying in MN for family reasons, so I doubt she goes east. St. Thomas might be a fun challenge. I, for one, would like to see her back in Ridder behind our bench.

All Big Ten post-season football money (Bowl payouts AND College Football Playoff money) gets pooled and split among the conference members. But even if it wasn't and OSU kept it all, it's still not a priority for them. Like two years ago they requested and (AIUI) got permission from their Board of Trustees to do planning for a new arena. Monk-like silence ever since.

They absolutely do and if even if they couldn't write a check for it today, they can find it. It is the second biggest athletic department in the NCAA by revenue. Eventually Nadine needs to give them an ultimatum about not building her a better facility: as much as it pains me to say it, OSU deserves better than a rec center rink which is an embarrassment to the conference and to the sport. For all of her talking about how superior tOSU student-athlete experience is, when it comes down to it the place where the sport is played and practiced matters a hell of a lot more than having four different electrolyte drink flavors vs. only three.

When the president hired Ross Bjork, he was hiring a guy who puts football above all else (cf. his time at Texas A&M). I doubt she'll be getting a new rink, not this year and not next year. Eventually, she'll see the writing on the wall...or "momma will come calling" and she'll be back in Ridder.

First legit upset of the season as the Tommies take down the Dawgettes 3-2 in dramatic fashion tying it at 10:41 of the 3rd and the gwg caming at 19:35. Shots were not terribly one sided, 35 21.UMD had a big advantage in the 2nd period 15-6, otherwise it was 14-9 and 6-6 in the 3rd period.

Minnesota and Bemidji play at noon (!) today. Some schedules show otherwise. Some sort of "field trip day", to bring school kids to the game.

Reminds me of what used to be "Kid's Day at the Kohl Center". Back before LaBahn was built, on the Friday closest to Halloween, they would have a kid's day, where different UW sports team would have representatives at an afternoon women's hockey game, with 'activities' out in the concourses: golf would have putting greens, rowing would have rowing machines kids could try, etc etc. Bucky, cheerleaders, stuff given out. And a hockey game.

Add another to this one. St. Thomas an overtime winner over Duluth. Tommies lead by 2 after the 1st period. Duluth got 3 in a row after that. Tommies tie it up and take it to overtime.
Both teams looked gassed during the 3 on 3 overtime, but St. Thomas pulls it out, 4 - 3 in overtime.

Yeah the Tommy's are sniffing Kato's rear now in the standings. Didn't see that one coming.

So there I was looking over the St Cloud coaches I noticed one had what I would define as very Finnish looking blonde hair. Yes I'm stereotyping lol. Looked at the program and sure enough the coach is from Finland, that ex gopher player Raty. Don't like seeing her back in Labahn, I'm glad her team lost. A little PTSD i guess.

oh yes...3500 elementary/middle school kids and probably 500 regular fans, of which about 100 were there for the Beavs. I had some with me, but in a rare Gopher Athletics Department win, they had disposable ear plugs by the entrance door. Before I put mine in, it was excruciatingly loud. Officially it was 3700 in Ridder but I suspect that might just be to avoid upsetting the fire marshall. I snuck out of work to head over to Ridder, don't tell my boss that my "lunch with a friend" was a pretzel at a hockey game.

Today a few hundred down at Valley Fair (amusement park) for Hockey Day Minnesota. Tickets for HDM were $90...not worth it for the privilege of freezing my butt off and paying $20 for parking.

Worth noting that the Woofers are currently dealing with whatever not-covid/not-flu virus that is going around. I think they had some scratches who normally wouldn't travel playing the past few days. Our women's BB team was also dealing with it but seem to be better, just in time to play the BADgers tomorrow at 2...

It would be priceless to see your face if Amanda Kessel started coaching in the WCHA. I laugh whenever I recall your wailing from back in the days.

Along with Badger player Jinelle Zaugg-Siergiej (the tall coach who's probably often in your way). That's a pretty talented coaching staff.

Yeah that's pretty crazy that there's a badger and a rodent on the same staff. Of course they didn't ever play against each other.

The old pulling the goalie in a third period on a power play was a interesting play. That really seemed to get the crowd fired up. At least UW scored on the second attempt.
