WCHA 21-22 Season

The hate is flowing...Almost got to see Sinners and Yuckeyes getting into a brawl. Except for the fact that it was difficult to see it through the netting.

When they spent 15 minutes to review that, I was expecting them to give Potomak a couple of majors. I think that's what the zebras wanted to do, but they couldn't figure out how to enter that onto the scoreboard.

What did they use to review that? A VCR?

Potomac river does have quite the rep...

Well, I’d like to see Mankato take a game from UMD in the first round, take the series even. Not because I’d like to see the Bulldogs lose, but it would be cool to see the Mavericks get a big payoff for their good season.

Placing this here because of the impact to the league standings. (Read on for that context.)

This is more general than just the WCHA and really more general than just the women's game, but I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the conference regular-season points system with regards to overtime games.

The Gopher women highly benefitted this year because three of their six conference losses came in OT, giving them 3 points they wouldn't have had in the old system (though they may not have lost those games 5-on-5). If the OT games had been a full "3 points if you win, 0 points if you lose", Ohio State would have finished only 2 points behind and would have had a better points percentage, winning the title.

Currently, just the opposite is happening for the Gopher men. They have the same 15-6-0 Big Ten record as Michigan, but because one of Minnesota's wins occurred in OT and they have one less OT loss, they're two points back of the Wolverines. That said, another way to look at it is that Minnesota has one less regulation win and one more regulation loss than Michigan, which could be considered as validation for the difference in standings points.

Thoughts?

One thing the system gave us was Coach Muzzerall's bold decision to pull her goalie in regulation against Bemidji State! One of the highlights of the season and a decision I am venturing led more than one of her players to again pledge eternal love for her!!!

Other than WI being in true peril of being eliminated by BSU, do any of the other home teams lose a game?

The most likely candidate is UMD who almost lost to St Cloud on Saturday. Mankato’s goalie Chantal Burke is the real deal and could definitely keep them in every game.

That team has definitely been snake bit this season with injuries! I took a gander at the university‘s women’s tennis schedule and that team has matches this Saturday and Sunday. That could be very relevant as their current back up goalie also plays for the tennis team and did not dress last Saturday because of a tennis match. That left Burke as the only goalie dressed for the game.
