WCHA 21-22 Season

Yeah...That is a good reminder as I haven't checked how much tread is left on my tires for awhile now. Thank goodness for this tread.

I mentioned that because my wife's vehicle just had it's tyres (I like the European spelling) replaced due to seeing steel threads where the rubber wore off.

We just changed the tyres on my wife's vehicle over to her winter set, and the tire shop says they still have 4/32 of thread left. So she should be "good to go" for another winter at least...and it's snowing again as we speak.

Wow, old school with winter vs summer sets. They have these tyres now days called "all season". Smileyface.

Here in Minnesota, dedicated winter tires are the way to go. It's the other guy, largely those from the state just east of ours, that you have to worry about.

Amen to that! Try getting home in a Minnesota blizzard with only All-season tires on. A 40 minute drive became 6 hours of slipping, sliding, and getting pushed out of snow banks by Good Samaritans. The next winter there was no hesitation about what to do. Of course, with a can of thinner in my car, I probably would have been happy in that snow bank.

Interestingly, WI averages 47" of snow a year, MN averages 72" in the snowbelt and 36" elsewhere.

My wife has a larger AWD SUV and I drive an F150 w/4wd in the winter, would we seriously need winter tyres on these? I used to drive a Focus, even being front wheel drive that thing was crap in the snow, I could see having winter tyres on that thing. The 80's Mustangs back in the day were bad in snow too, but who doesn't love whipping those puppies around in the snow? I only dumped those in the ditch twice. I do recall 2 white knuckle Mustang snow trips. My 2003 Taurus was a tank in the snow, so was the Explorer. Realistically don't you just wait for the roads to get plowed, then go out?

We are just maybe (Maybe??) a tad smarter and don't drive under questionable conditions. Unless you are trying to keep your perfect attendance record going at work, then I get it.

When people depend on you to get things done, it is important that you are able to get from here to there. My parents were from farm families, (in Wisconsin!), and there was never a question of weather disturbing planned get-togethers. Here in St. Paul, during one of the big blizzards a couple of years ago, the Highway Dept. waited till the snow had let up and their plows got stuck trying to clear eastbound I94 out of downtown. With my car I was scooting through foot deep snow with no issues. Crossing a major city street, I had to slam through a waist high ridge of snow that the plows had left. You do what needs to get done. Are we saying that Gophers are tougher than Badgers?

I get it. No one depends on me to get anything done. Frownface. Sadface. Cryingface.

Wife and I each drive an AWD vehicle and we equip one with a set of winter wheels and tires for those times when one of us has a "need to be there" event. For the changeover on her's (done two weeks ago today) it cost all of $70 and that includes seasonal storage at the tire place. Worth it just for the peace of mind!

Exactly, it's for peace of mind. Your vehicle is only as good as the tires it rolls on. I can't count the number of vehicles that I've seen slide off the exit or cloverleaf ramps. When even my car is slipping the road conditions are terrible. Good winter tires are a kind of insurance policy. With the unpredictability of the weather these days, I will stay old school and change out my wheels when snow is imminent.

We have games this weekend, as of right now anyway....WCHA goes 7-1 this weekend.

Q at UW UW wins one by 2-3 goals and one by 1 goal.
UMD at Hawvawd UMD sweeps
St. Cloud vs PSU PSU
St. Cloud vs BU/'Cuse St. Cloud

One week away from Ohio States games starting back up but with this massive Covid surge what can we expect? World Juniors cancelled, same for the USA-Canada goodwill games.
I myself am in the ICU of Ohio States James Cancer Hospital with Covid!
