WCHA 2023-2024 Calamity Or Calmness?

Well now that it's conference tournament week I think we all know what games might be a given on the outcome others could be a question mark. What are your predictions?

UMD and St. Cloud will still be playing game 3 Monday AM. Heck, they could still be playing game 1 on Monday AM. If you switch goalies, can the one who started go back in and relieve the goalie who relieved them?

What's the word on TV coverage for the tournament?

The WCHA web site says "All games will stream live on B1G+".

At the moment, they don't show on the BTN-Plus schedule pages, but that doesn't mean much. And hoping they might get bumped up to regular BTN is not at all likely, women's basketball tournament that weekend.

Hockey isn't baseball, so as long as we don't have any game misconducts or the like, they should be able to switch at every whistle if they like.

I guess my question is will they make it so those of us who only have our school pass for BTN+ get to see any playoff game or will we still be limited to our subscription as usual?

You could look back in their archive to last year and see what it does and doesn't allow you access, and then assume this year will be likewise.

Looking at the BTN+ schedule for the WCHA quarterfinals the games are locked out if you don't have the proper subscription so the usual applies, if you have just school pass you can only watch their games.

On the same topic, last year streaming for NCAA quarterfinals 'belonged' to the host school. ECAC belonged to ESPN-Plus. and then the semis and finals also belonged to ESPN in some form or other. I know that last year, I signed up for ESPN-Plus for a month to be able to see UW first weekend games. We're now within a month of the finals, if one is inclined to sign up for a month of ESPN, if you do so now, you can watch ECAC games this weekend, have the month last through the finals, and cancel shortly after.

Wasn't really expecting Wisconsin to get more than Boston Coll... I mean Ohio State on the first team.

:-)

As impressive as it is that 9 Badgers were honored, you can make a case for Ava McNaughton being the All-Freshman goalie. While Eve Gascon is certainly deserving, Ava has been extremely impressive especially down the stretch. I would anticipate she will take over the clear #1 in Minneapolis and beyond.

I wonder when was the last time nobody from UMD or UM made first team? Maybe during the asterisk season, but even then I think Zum was a Kaz top 3 and the 'Dogs had Hughes and Bell, so probably not.

FYI for anybody interested: after a half-dozen emails, BTN has *finally* posted last Saturday's Wisconsin-Ohio State game on the BTN-Plus replays for Feb 24th. No idea what took them so long.
