UAA-UAF is a close rivalry but, historically, the difference has been that UAA can sweep or get 3 points in Fairbanks but UAF really struggles to sweep in Anchorage.

That's a weird weekend for Fairbanks. They absolutely dominated possession last night and lost, and then there's the weird end on Friday.

I think Mankato has pretty much sewed things up, but overall in college hockey I've never seen it this topsy turvy. I mean who would have picked Maine to beat BC. Shocking!.

Congrats to Lake State for really becoming better lately, it's makes for a real exciting finish. I'd like nothing better than for them to take BG down a few pegs, and whoever gets to play them in the playoffs better look out.

Lake State played really really well on Saturday down in Mankato Last weekend! I was really impressed with their goalie.

The reason there were so many ejections is because several guys got a 2 minute minor and a 10 minute misconduct. Since there was only 90 seconds left in the game, they got the gate. The Nanooks were simply very frustrated that they were losing to UAA, on their ice. I'm sure it reminded them of last season's playoffs. ;)

And the old cliché "They are better than their record" applies to UAA as well. I firmly believe that had they not had 17 players recovering from food poisoning when they played Ferris State, they would have won. Heck they almost did win as it was.

UAF tried to get a cost sharing arrangement but UAA wouldn’t go for it. That’s just half of the story………. UA_ didn’t want to have to shell out for a luxury Hotel in _airbanks with running water, showers and toilets in the rooms instead of the upscale local hotels with showers, running water, and a toilet in a separate building. One of the local favorites with an outhouse, wood stove and a dry wash tub that is more the norm in the village that didn't pass muster with UAA either.

Hey guys, I was looking at the PWR table and I noticed something. Now that they've gotten rid of the TUC cliff, everything is basically by an extremely flawed RPI calc. The only way to win a comparison over a team that has a superior RPI is to have played them. There is only RPI (1 point), Common Opps (1 point) and Head to Head (1 point for each win). If you haven't played head to head it is impossible to overcome a superior RPI by simply having a better record against Common Opps. Seems pretty flawed to me, not that I liked the TUC cliff but it provided a way to overcome the flawed RPI. Am I missing something?

Seriously though, I was unaware of that quirk with the PWR/RPI. I don't think it's as big an issue, because obviously an AHA team that is 11-1, while a better record, is a weaker team than a WCHA team that is 8-4. (For example).

This reminds me of my crash course in loving (AND hating) the PWR after the 'Cats were screwed out of the NCAA's by Mankato and tOSU even though NMU had a better record.

haha, I have always paid attention to how it works. Just realizing that without the record vs TUC it is impossible to overcome A lower RPI without playing head to head.

And what a place that is.......overpriced " Granny" crap inside and loose sled dog crap covering the gravel,pot hole filled lot...Just awonderfull place to be.
