Ways To Know You're a Division III Fan...

Re: Ways To Know You're a Division III Fan...

Talk of Michigan Red Hots reminds me of Bulwagga Bay......but you gotta try the Fried Butter at the Charlotte Motor Speedway....unbelievable:eek: :D

Re: Ways To Know You're a Division III Fan...

You're @ game 7 of the Caps - Habs series and spend the between period breaks checking for the fate of the Interlock.

Re: Ways To Know You're a Division III Fan...

: Your a fan of a team whose battle for a Championship title takes place on the ice versus the boardroom (since '98-'99).

Your conversations about Jaroslav Halak keep including references to Niklas Sundberg.

Actually, no. The comparison would have been to Kyle Jones and the shut down D of SNC.

The one trouble is, that of the 18,000+ fans @ the Verizon center last night, maybe 2 would have understood the analogy.

Error, yes. Blatant, no.

: You click on the link and know exactly what error our esteemed colleague was referring to.

In my opinion it is blatant, unless you found an error that was more subtle than the one I found. :D

Wasn't it the Caps media webpage guy (or something) that played goalie for oswego and neumann?

I can see that, though I was thinking it wasn't in the sense it probably wasn't an obvious mistake to whoever wrote it. They probably just assumed it, which would have worked for any other sport (I think).

My accidental use of XYZ was also not blatant :p. Not that I'm XYZ, of course.

Nah, Jones was excellent (Lord knows I'm all-too-familiar with that), but the ridiculous shot totals, the huge on-paper disparity between teams, the undersized and but opportunistic shot-blocking forwards, and the overall importance of the goalie to his team are all far more analogous to the situation of Sundberg and Co. in '01. Kyle Jones turned in a playoff performance for the ages, but replace him with a lesser but competent goalie and you've still got a roster that wouldn't surprise anybody by winning the title (I've had this conversation a few times too ;) ).

Which makes it a pretty blatant mistake for a site that devotes itself to hockey doncha think, XYZ?

I'm with Webb.

It is "blatant" to us, but to 98% of the people that visit that website. They probably have no clue.

As a sports journalist, would you not be expected to report accurately on what events are taking place? I know that the people who visit that website have no clue that there was an error - that's what makes it egregious to me - you need to inform your readers, and if your readers already are uninformed, you have a duty to make sure your info is accurate. Blatant in the sense that the readers will catch it, no. Blatant in the sense that it is an inexcusable error, yes. Check your sources...
