Vermont Women's Hockey 2017-18

Watched the 3rd and it was not pretty. Vermont looked like they were in quicksand next to the QU skaters. Couldn't generate anything. Lots of puck control by QU.

Did not see last night’s game but based on the box score looked like a more even game.

Nice sweep Cats! Keep it going.

Finally healthy for the first time all season. Definitely a great sweep. Scobee had herself a weekend (as did Flaherty with two goals - she's proven to be another excellent transfer pickup). I think Black's a good keeper, but Scobee's won the job for now in my eyes.

UNH away next weekend. These girls will remember that heartbreaking loss on Friday and will come out strong!

Goalies and D looking good. Need some scoring from the forwards.....
Yeah I brought that up at media today (4 of the 5 goals last week were by defenders [Flaherty 2, Willard, and Kolowrat] and the one goal by a forward was an empty netter). Plumer said it's especially important at UNH with that huge Olympic rink, using that space and the team's quickness.

Re: Vermont Women's Hockey 2017-18

A point on the road at UNH isn't bad. Let's make it a 3 point weekend ladies.

Also, limited sample size, but Sydney Scobee has a .947 SV%....I think we've found our starting goalie. Kinda funny how our last starter was Litchfield who was like 5'3 and now we have the tallest starter in the nation lol

Rippy over at Brown measures in at 1,128.8 mm tall (6 ft) as well.

Clarkson got back to their game but I will take the split. This team has heart and if they keep working hard I think can be in the tournament. Great weekend.

Maybe not the tournament (since we'd have to win the WHEA tourney, which I guess is possible, all you need is one good game against a BC and/or a Northeastern in the semis/final), but it's a great platform to build off of, especially for a young team.

And I definitely agree they have heart, and it's such a likable group out there. Combine that passion and effort with a goalie like Scobee and this is a team that can surprise people.

Ouch!!! What happened? I expected a tight game. Back to reality I guess from last weekend....

Re: Vermont Women's Hockey 2017-18

Looking forward to Colgate WIH participating in the Windjammer Classic this weekend. Thought I'd share updates from our thread. Please feel free to post on ours. We're humbly witnessing a multi-year transformation of Colgate WIH. Love to share it:

# 2 ( 2 PWR, 13-1 ) 'gate WIH sweeps Yale & Brown, heads to Windjammer Classic @ Vermont over TG wkend

"Feels like a #2 ranking tomorrow..." was prophetic by go'gate, reflecting a potential swapping of places with #2 Boston College. BC, now 10-1-2, gave up a tie to Conn. over the weekend. I thought the move to the #2 spot would likely follow a potential sweep of Cornell Dec. 1 & 2.

I hope the Cornell series doesn't distract 'gate from the serious business in front of it at the Windjammer Classic against Minnesota Duluth on Friday and the winner of the Vermont/RIT game on Saturday. I still have a slight concern about 'gate's sluggishness in its 2nd games on weekends. Other than that, no complaints......isn't this a blast ?

RIT's goalie was really good yesterday...main reason it went to a shootout. UVM produced a lot of scoring chances, just couldn't cash in. You talk about a narrative though - sister vs sister on the last shootout attempt. Those girls had to have played out that scenario so much on ponds and neighborhood rinks growing up and to have it actually happen at the college level has to have been awesome.

Minnesota Duluth tonight for the Windjammer Classic title. I know it's just a midseason tournament, but a trophy in one of these can really springboard a season, especially after two tough conference L's last week. I think UMD is better than their record and they beat the crap out of a really good Colgate team yesterday, so it should be a tough game. But I know this team relishes those tough games.
