Re: Vermont @ Maine

any one else notice that the drop pass went the way of the dodo after the North Dakota series?

they were doing those (Abbott and Dee and Flynn... and Nyquist) becuase they were doing those things over the summer when they were not influenced by the micromanager....

no drop passes in "the system" so even though it creates a screen and good chance for a rebound, it does not happen because it does not fit in

And the drop pass Dee made to Nyquist on a odd man rush during the 5x3 tongiht that was intercepted by UVM and cleared down? I see them trying drop passes a lot....I can thnk of 3-4 Sat night at UNH...and I see the opposition reading them like a book and clearing them off. It's not the system it's the execution...at least solely with the drop pass. In fairness to your point, it looks like they don't practice it enough....pucks not smooth often enough on those.

Re: Vermont @ Maine

"and still not one of you dares admit that there is a chance that the boys lose just to make Tim look bad.... and QUIT or be forced out"

What the hell else does that mean? They lose on purpose to make Whitehead look bad?

I'm not defending Whitehead, or the strategy, or the talent, or whatever. But if you are going to make an allegation that a sports team IS THROWING GAMES (which you did), you better have some evidence other than "jeez this seems like a game they should win." Should Maine score on a 5 on 3? Yes. But its not like its been since 1984 since someone failed to. It's also not like its been since 1984 that a theoretically better team dropped a stinkbomb at home to a lesser opponent.

stop putting words in my mouth...
I did not make an allegation, I said that nobody admits that there is a chance.
something is drastically wrong with that program... and THERE IS AN EXPLANATION... unless you know about chloryl hydrate in their water bottles, I would like to know what is up....

have the boys stopped playing in order to spite him in the past... YES.
more than once
are they doing that now??? I have no idea...
but, please... go ahead and explain THIS garbage
and the UConn game

Re: Vermont @ Maine

In the pre-game interview with Dan, TW said (in reference to tonight's game) that his team was "not focusing on results". Good thing. Mission accomplished Timmay.

I am not putting words in your mouth. I used exactly the words you used. "the boys lose just to make Tim look bad." It's been quoted five or so times now, so you can't go back and delete it as is your m.o.

You didn't say "they don't play hard for Tim" or "they've quit on the season" or whatnot. Those things imply that, should they find themselves standing in front of an empty net with the chance to win the game, they would score. Your statement implies that in such a situation they would not score, intentionally. "Not playing hard" or "quitting" means that you exude ambivalence. You are most likely to get run out of the building, and you don't care. "The boys lose just to make Tim look bad" implies malevolence. You are still likely to get run out of the building, you are happy about it, and you are going to actively endeavor that result. There is a HUGE HUGE difference between the two.

Re: Vermont @ Maine

not passing backward, literally dropping the puck, leaving it stationary and continuing forward.... they don't do it.... when they pass it backward they almost always pass to the backhand or the skates.....

Fair enough, I've only see that kind of pass once in four games in person this year and the winger the puck was left for had no clue, skated right over it.

right...and it is a Hel1 of a weapon
I still remember Jankus leaving against UND, leading to a goal in 2004 or 2006... don't remember the year.
you leave it
YOU are the screen and YOU are the first guy to the rebound if there IS one.

maine was doing it early this year, a few times... but it does not fit in the system

Re: Vermont @ Maine

Van Dyk's given a 5 minute major.....kneeing. That's new. There goes the comeback (what's the sarcasm color on USCHO anyways)

Re: Vermont @ Maine

lol... van dyk gets five for kneeing.... brickley gets two for crosschecking at the same time...
