Vermont : Let the offseason begin...2011

Re: Vermont : Let the offseason begin...2011

Couple of good articles in the BFP about Tim Thomas bringing the Cup to Burlington. Were any of you there?

Re: Vermont : Let the offseason begin...2011

I was down south volunteering in disaster recovery efforts, which was very unpleasant, but I felt like it had to be done and I feel better having helped out.

I heard there was a good turnout for the parade, which is good to hear, certainly was the nicest of the days of the long weekend.

Now that fall is here lets drop the puck already - and time to ramp up the chatter. I almost miss the UML guys gooning it up on our thread. Well, maybe not.

Re: Vermont : Let the offseason begin...2011

Whether or not they have a green & gold game this year I am so glad that they are starting the season with a exibition so we get a
chance to see the young players and also they dont have to play a game that counts on a few days practices like a few years ago.

Re: Vermont : Let the offseason begin...2011

Good to see some stories start to materialize. I think the devestating weather has taken some air out of the fans sails up here lately. Good to have some hockey in a month for a distraction.

I think the Cats will be in the mix for 4th to 7th. They are still young up front but have some JR's this year that should start to have a real impact. The season will largely pivot on whether the freshmen can contribute significantly though. If Reynolds can put up half the numbers he did last year in the BCHL it will be a huge help as would Brickley having a more offensive season. Any other freshman that steps up among the forwards will be helpful. They have very few seniors this year - four I think - Madore, Marshall, Mackenzie and their fifth year captain. D will be younger but probably better with Paolotta added and Bruneteau a year stronger. I like the D to be solid.

Unfortunately it looks like Minnesota will have 5 games under their belt when Vermont arrives versus our 1 exhibition game. Only 1 of the four for Minny will be exhibition, the others D1 college. Any reports on how good UoM is supposed be this year?

Re: Vermont : Let the offseason begin...2011

Yeah brutal schedule again this year, especially right off the start. On the other hand winning a few of those games was enough to get us into the tournament a few years back, and prepares us for the grind of Hockey East play. Its unfortunate that they will have 5 games in to our one, but in the end its worth it.

Re: Vermont : Let the offseason begin...2011

This thread is way too quiet. Almost makes me with UML fans were in here bothering us again...... Over three weeks to go... and a month until a real game. Too long.......

Re: Vermont : Let the offseason begin...2011

With School started and NHL camps open at least most of the pro prospects are less likely to bolt so now we only need to wait and see if our players
can stay out of trouble or bars and maybe we can keep a team together for a full year.

Re: Vermont : Let the offseason begin...2011

i am encouraged with the upcoming season.i think we will see alot more puck movement and offensive production from this group.the incoming freshmen class will make a solid contribution this season.looking foward to the season--

Re: Vermont : Let the offseason begin...2011

Kind of sucks they pushed the start of the season back....usually we have the exhibition game coming up.

Anyways,

Here's my guess for starting line-up in two weeks

McCarthy - Decenzo - Stalberg

Brickley - White - Lenz

Mountain - Montagna/Bruneteau - Marshall

Herrington - Leonard - Albertson

Mackenzie - Franzon

Bruneteau - Palitto

Herrington/Griems - Lukko

Madore

Re: Vermont : Let the offseason begin...2011

I think we see Reynolds on the 2nd or 3rd line. He has to be an impact forward or we are going to struggle mightily to score.....

Re: Vermont : Let the offseason begin...2011

Rob Madore isn't considered one of the top 10 goalies in the country? Really? Three goalies in HE in front of him....?
