True that. Cats FINALLY seem to be recruiting some players who can put the puck in the net!

Well one good thing that came out of the UML loss in the semis is that no Lowell fan can call our road
to the final four thru Yale as being weak anymore.

Kinda like this quiet offseason...its a nice change

Too bad we are full on assistants now. Osiecki would be a great addition and he coaches a style of D that puts up offense.

I think it'll be interesting to see whether Lowell can keep things going next season and beyond. I remember after the BU game in our Frozen Four several years ago, my emotions were mostly depression mixed in with a bit of anger. Despite a fine season, I knew we'd let a golden opportunity to win the national championship slip through our fingers, and that another chance like that might not come along for a long time. Sure enough, it's been pretty much all downhill since then. Unless you've got an elite program, where you can basically reload instead of rebuild, it's tough to maintain that kind of momentum.

Wasn't that the whole point in moving to Hockey East? Seems other schools have a much lower threshold for a lack of performance (Denver, OSU, even Maine).

Presumably, yeah. But Corran and the administration need to realize that's only one piece of the puzzle. I think it'll be very, very difficult for the hockey program (or the b-ball program for that matter) to get to the next level without a new facility. All other things being equal, that can be the difference for a young recruit.

If you're talking about Sneddon, I agree, I don't think he's someone that can lead this program to the promised land. In fact, I think it's almost reached the point of needing to make a change, just for the sake of making a change. However, the reality is nothing's gonna happen until his contract expires, especially with the improved play the team showed toward the end of the season.

Despite the above, and in Sneddon's defense, I will say I'm pretty pumped about the recruiting class that we have coming in. It appears we finally have some players who, if they pan out, can really help get the offense going. For whatever reason, we haven't been able (or maybe willing) to recruit these types of players.

Also, Kevin Irwin is no longer coming in this fall. He was denied admission.

That's great news, especially regarding McCarthy. As for Brickley, hopefully he can have a breakout season and show UVM fans why he's so highly regarded. With these guys returning and a strong incoming freshman class, I don't see why we shouldn't be competing for home ice and a spot in the NCAA tourney.

Mostly McCarthy, Fallon and Reynolds. I can see McCarthy having a monster year -- something big enough to maybe put him in the Hobey Baker mix. As far as other returning players, I wouldn't be surprised if Brickley, Markison, White and Polesello were all able to increase their offensive numbers substantially. Among freshman, it sounds like both Puskarich and Bradley have the potential for scoring numbers that'll make your head spin. Of course, you never know if gaudy numbers like that will transfer to D1 hockey. We shall see.

as long as uvm employs a defense first mentality,scoring will always be a challenge. developing a potent power play can solve many scoring difficulties.

This Stenerson looks like a pretty good pickup for the Cats. Nice playoff run he is having. Looks to me like they have three potential upgrades at forward and a couple of nice D adds after having not lost much at all to graduation or defections (at least yet). Definitely should be deeper this coming season at forward and D. Probably still not making any NCAA bid noise but definitely closer to having the foundation to achieve at that level. If they can fix the special teams to be average they should flirt with being a .500 or better club and should be faster and more skilled and therefore more fun to watch.

Coulombe ranked #68 by Central Scouting. Good pick up, when is he scheduled to join the team?

According to Ted Ryan's blog post from February, Coulombe is scheduled to join the team in 2014 or 15. Is it me, or has UVM really stepped up its recruiting recently? I'm really psyched about the incoming class, as well as some of the other guys we have in the pipeline. Not sure who's responsible for this exactly, but Sneddon can really reap the benefits of this effort as head coach. Hopefully he can make that happen.

He will never step foot on UVM's campus. Based on where he is from, he will end up in Major Junior if he is ranked that high.
