Re: Vermont 2013-2014 Season Thread : The Golden Year

I wasn't the one doing the happy dance over the RPI standings a month into the season. ....

Your fan's bizarre and unrelenting psychosis regarding your percieved status in Hockey East, I do enjoy Burlington.

Thanks for the update.

Just a word of advice, you may want to think about remove that large piece of wood stuck in your rectum. You get bent out of shape awfully easy. It clearly was a sore spot that UVM was higher in the RPI rankings and (gasp) us UVM fans were happy about it.

I mean really how dare we actually be happy about being above UML... you know since they were supposed to be really really good this year.

I have to admit, the second statement really had me laughing this morning. Thanks for that. A Lowell fan talking about a bizarre psychosis concerning a teams status in Hockey East.... that's just priceless.

Bent out of shape? Please don't give yourself so much credit. All I had to do was update the rankings from your previous post and already two Vermont fans have come climbing out of the woodwork. You guys make this easy.

Second, I have no delusions about where Lowell stands in Hockey East. They're a top tier squad. Two straight NCAA tournaments. A Frozen Four. The league and the cup last season. So explain how my lofty expectations are a psychosis. And then compare that to Vermont fans, who love to talk about how they should sweep teams before each series (Maine), how they love to talk about how their opponents really aren't THAT good or haven't played anybody (before the PC series) and how they seem to outplay everybody, but continue to lose (PC game 1, ND game 2). That's the difference between our arguments; I like to give factual evidence to back up my position. You like to throw things at the wall and hope they stick.

Finally, it's sad that those are the two parts of my post you chose to quote. I was actually being nice to you all. But apparently the delusions run deeper than I expected.

Came out of the woodwork? You posted and got responded to... holy **** batman, that is bizarre.

Your illiteracy is showing. Most fans did not expect this team to do well. Best case scenario (and you can feel free to go back and check) were middle of the pack expectations if things went well. So I'm not sure where you came up with this idea that for some reason UVM fans don't "know their place" in HE.

As an FYI, two seasons of being a top tier team does not raise your RiverHawks "status in HE" , it merely means you had a few good seasons. Kinda like VT a few years ago. In a few more we'll talk some more... By then Lowell either will have put together 5-6 good seasons and can be mentioned as the cream of the crop in HE. Or, we'll talk about how they had a good season or two but now their back to being a mid pack team.

Finally, I chose to quote the two points I wanted to respond to. If it makes you feel better... Thank you for your support against UMass this upcoming weekend.

How do we come climbing out of the woodwork in OUR OWN THREAD?

You are the one that only pops in when things are going well for UML and bad for VT otherwise
you crawl back in your hole.

Could you please remind me when it was that Vermont won the league and/or the cup? I should remember if it was just "a few years ago"...

So your definition of a "good season" is winning the league or the cup?

Interesting. So Lowell has had 1 good season in it's HE history... you must be so proud

That's still 1 more than Vermont has had.

You compared Lowell's recent success to what Vermont had done previously. In case you forgot:

"...it merely means you had a few good seasons. Kinda like VT a few years ago."

So I ask again, if you're comparing them, when exactly did Vermont have a season when they won the league and/or the cup?

It's a simple question. Maybe this time you'll answer it instead of dodging it.

They have not won HE. And that is not at all what I said. That's what you said. I'm not dodging anything. I don't think winning HE is a necessity to having a successful season (unless your UNH).

And yes I compared the two... Was Lowells year last year better then VT's? Sure they won HE, does that make it alot better... UML was 16-9-2 (34pts) last season, VT was 15-8-4 (34pts) in '09. That's pretty comparable absent the league title chief. If you can't see that your being a dik intentionally or your an idiot...

My guess is the former...

If you're going to compare Vermont's '09 season to Lowell's '13 season, then just using league record doesn't tell the whole story (wait, jcarter ignore stats? That never happens!)

Vermont 2008-09 overall: 22-12-5
Lowell 2012-13 overall: 28-11-2

Vermont 2008-09 Hockey East playoffs: Swept at home in quarterfinals (by Lowell)
Lowell 2008-09 Hockey East playoffs: Won league tourney

But go ahead, keep convincing yourself that those seasons are similar.

Um it is when the conversation originated over the perceived status within HE moron.

Re: Vermont 2013-2014 Season Thread : The Golden Year

I think it's funny how much of this forum compares UML and UVM.

I'll chime in. The only reason UML had such a good run and even took the league title and cup is due to the on ice leadership of a Vermonter. They loose their VT'er and they don't seem to be doing so well. I mean they are doing ok, but that's only because the guys on the team think about him and ask themselves 'what would Jesus, no I mean Scott, do!?'. Mu ha ha ha ha ha.

You're right, one got swept at home in the quarterfinals, one won the league tourney. Pretty similar.

Re: Vermont 2013-2014 Season Thread : The Golden Year

Unfortunately, I don't think we have much cause to be tooting our own horn. Lowell is clearly a better team and has been for a while now. Hopefully that'll change, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. Sometimes I think the team is turning the corner and, other times, not so much. I believe it's a combination of facilities (not being able to recruit "impact" players, especially scorers) and coaching (not being able to maximize the potential of the players we do have). Of course coaching, and specifically style of play, likely has an impact on recruiting too.

Would love to see the Cats get back to .500 in league play with 4 points at Amherst, but I'm thinking a split is the more likely scenario.

I retract my previous statement your right... the programs have nothing in common and I for one am thankful for that.

Don't fall into the Lowell trap. The discussion was never about which team is better, that's obvious. That's only the current discussion that numbnutts are trying to bring into it. Hey, can't blame them for riding the last little bit of success they've had.
