UW @ tUMD: Badgers final trip to Duluth

Re: UW @ tUMD: Badgers final trip to Duluth

See? You guys at least can muster some emotion over Jan.

I got nothing.

One of two games I have ever left early, because I was going to break something or someone. And I wasn't going to jail over a game. Yup. That mad.

OK, now you have to tell us about the other one.

Re: UW @ tUMD: Badgers final trip to Duluth

NEVER MENTION THAT GAME AGAIN. EVER.

*er.
That was a great game to watch, terrible defenses aside. [Edited to add: Plus, I'm not sure I buy that as the most heartbreaking game of that season for you guys, let alone one of the worst in your memory.]

SCSU has mostly just been good for Bobby Goepfert. Tom Gilbert scored on him from the opposite blue line and it gave us all sorts of plagiarist cheers (including a really fun new verse to "[Goalie] is a great big sieve"). Other than that, they're kind of middle of the road for how much I'll miss them in the Great Conference Shakeup. My ranking for how badly I will miss the rest of the WCHA:

1. NoDak
2. Denver
3. MTU
4. UMD
5. CC
6. Jan
7/8. UAA and MnSU
9. UNO
10. BSU

I agree, SCSU is on the fringe of who I'd want to schedule and they have a respected program.

They're good. There's just no juice there for us though (speaking for myself of course).

You're right... maybe if you guys started winning games against us again it'd spark up.

Or maybe one of your goons could follow one of our players into the corner and break his neck.

That'd probably do it.

You wanna name all the goons we currently have on our roster?

Don't worry, I'll wait...

In fact the only SCSU game I really remember is '06 when they beat the Gophers 8-7 (I think) in the Final Five. You guys should play them - and I'd guess you will. 2 for 1 of course and that's only if they ask nicely. ;)
From what I've read Minnesota will get 3 home series for every two SCSU home series. I think that may have something to do with the coaches relationship. That is definitely more fair than the 2 for 1 that UW seems to be asking for.

MN is giving SCSU 2 for 1 plus the Minnesota tournament. With four non-Gopher MN D-1 teams, the other 4 will be rotated out of the tournament. So here's how a four year rotation would look:

SCSU plays at MN one year (SCSU plays in the tournament, may get a second game with the Gophers)
SCSU hosts MN (SCSU doesn't play in the tournament)
SCSU plays at MN (SCSU plays in the tournament, may get a second game with the Gophers)
SCSU plays the Gophers the first game in the tournament (it will be the only time they meet unless they should meet in the NCAAs)

I don't know in what part of the cycle SCSU will start out in but I thought I heard Bemidji will be the first team to not appear in the Minnesota tournament.

That was 2006?! I remember it like it was yesterday! :O What an awesome game.
