UW @ tUMD: Badgers final trip to Duluth

Re: UW @ tUMD: Badgers final trip to Duluth

Really wondering who will get the start for tUMD. McNeely played well, Crandall has been decent, and we have yet to see Fons. Maybe a McNeely-Fons weekend? Also, Farley needs to see ice timeall weekend. The logic behind a healthy scratch last Saturday played very well into ND's win. With that being said, Austyn Young played with heart too.

Hard to say. Just my opinion, but I think the starting job is Crandall's to lose.

Rumor I read was Farley was scratched so Young could get some ice time. Not sure if there is even a nugget of truth to that though.

I bet they won't play tFons unless its an emergency. And I agree it's Crandall's job to lose. There are a lot of games he loses that are on the defenses fault. I suppose one could make the arguement that he needs to make some stand on your hand kind of saves in when your defense is lackluster. I cannot recall of a time when he has done that.

Since Lee is out I expect the Wisconsin power play to be very weak. Which is good because UMD is current 8th in the nation in penalties.[/QUOTE]

I saw the power play in Green Bay and Lee or no Lee the PP sucks without Shultz.

You're only as good as the defense that plays in front of you. But, is it just a coincidence that the team typically plays real shi**y when Crandall is in net? I think there's something to that idea. Maybe a lack of trust or something.

And this is why I don't see UMD getting home ice this season.
Think he is that bad? Or justifying why he was cut from UW? :p

I honestly forgot he is a junior this year. Thought he was a senior.

While McNeely is a freshmen, ill admit he gives me more confidence in the net.

Re: UW @ tUMD: Badgers final trip to Duluth

Ive never like the rotating goalie approach. I think they need to find a starter and stick with it. Also, Farley is a must start, every weekend...

Re: UW @ tUMD: Badgers final trip to Duluth

Its early in the year, Sandelin has to see what he has in the other players. Farley is a good player but what if Young would have came in and lit it up. Never know til you try it out.

Re: UW @ tUMD: Badgers final trip to Duluth

Serious question(not being snarky): Do you see UW getting home ice?

Yes. They are one of the only teams in the league with a steady goaltending situation, and return 83% of their scoring from last season. Once they get Kerdiles back and going they should be a home ice team IMO.

The real question is if this happens who would get that last spot? I can't see a team that I would put in the top half over UMD with a whole lot of confidince.

4-10 is wide open. I just don't think that UMD has the goalies to finish on he home ice side of that ledger.

It's his to lose by default; being the upperclassman and the only one with any college experience. If it was me running the bench, I would make him remove all doubt one way or the other: either he is our guy, or thanks for your two years and here are your options.
